But I haven't read very much about the reason WHY the well failed in the first place.
Flight 600 was torn apart in the media every which way but loose, but here is a situation that will ultimately kill America and, though it is important to figure out what to do and how ... I'd personally like to know what happened.
I can't just buy an equipment failure.
Yes .. my tin foil is on, but it occassionally tips out of protection mode.

There aren’t more than a handful of nations that have the capability to operate at that depth. Still looks like a BOP failure to me.

“There’s a lot being discussed about the oil leaking in the gulf”
I hadn’t heard about that; what happened?
And what gulf?

“Fixing the blame” is not the same thing as fixing the problem....
Even though Obama’s first conscious act was to send in battalions of lawyers, it would behoove whatever grownups are left in this country to find ways to cut through the bureaucracy and finger-pointing to get the mitigation and cleanup problems under control...
THEN, we can sit around to our heart’s content and play the ‘blame games’.....

From what I’ve heard, there was a build up of methane gas causing the fire. The oil rig sunk, breaking the pipe below.
Freepers who know more, please correct me if I’m wrong.

It doesn’t fit their agenda. Plus, where are all the nations of the world offering their assistance with it?

To: knarf
There have been a couple of articles posted that lead to the BOP being known to have issues (they are hardly used anyway), the well was behind schedule, there were bad tests on parts of the well, the generators on the platform did not have proper doors to keep gas from getting in there and igniting.
BP were cutting corners (apparently typical), ignored well defects that should have been fixed, had a defective BOP and weren't following safe design practice on the rig.

Not much is reported on the oil plume gushing out of the floor 6 miles away and I've read reports of minor leaks found elsewhere in the Gulf. Will BP have to pay for that too? Also wondering, was there any seismic activity in the area, at the time of the accident?
To: knarf
I can't just buy an equipment failure. It is fairly clear by now that PB underestimated the pressures they were working with. Equipment and procedures were inadequate for this well..

I saw one of the oil worker widows on CNN last night. She said her husband was acting strange the last time he was home. Checked his will and got his financial matters in order. He said there was a lot of strange “stuff” going on and he would talk about it when (if?) he got back home.

60 Minutes did a piece right after the accident. Yes, I know CBS can be liberal. I view them kinda like an analog clock that has completely stopped.. A stopped analog clock is 100% correct twice a day. 60 MIN is not correct twice a day however; they do get some things right.
It completely explained what caused the problem. You can go to www.cbs.com and view the entire show. I believe it was May 16 right after the accident.

But I haven't read very much about the reason WHY the well failed in the first place. The accident was caused by a series of very stupid human errors.
The President of Samson Oil and Gas gave an excellent technical analysis of the chain of events in this Wall Street Journal Article: The Oil Disaster Is About Human, Not System, Failure .

Anyway, like I was saying, shrimp is the fruit of the sea.
You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it.
There’s shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo,
pan fried, deep fried, and stir-fried.
There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp,
pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad,
shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich.
That’s about it.
