The minority population in the United States is steadily rising and makes up 35% of the total, advancing an unmistakable trend that could render them the new American majority by midcentury.
New Census Bureau estimates for 2009 show that the minority population grew by 2.5%, boosted by a surge in births among Latinos and an increase in the number of people who describe themselves as multiracial. During this time, the white population remained flat, making up roughly 65% of the country (199.9 million people).
In 2000, whites comprised 79% of the total population and minorities 21%.
Four states -- Hawaii, New Mexico, California and Texas -- as well as Washington, D.C., have minority populations that exceeded 50%. About 316 of the 3,143 counties -- one in 10 -- have minority populations of 50% or greater. That's up from more than 250 counties in 2000 .And it's one state more than in 2000, when Texas had not yet become a minority state. The 35% overall minority proportion of the population was up from 34% a year ago.
The new Census Bureau estimates, released Thursday, documented a widening age and race divide. They also are the last government numbers that will be available before the completion of the 2010 census, which could change the balance of political power when legislative districts are redrawn based on population and racial diversity.
The overall rise in the minority population is due to recent sharp increases in minority births, especially among Latinos, who made up more than half of the total population gains last year. There are roughly nine births for every death among the Latino population, compared to a roughly one-to-one ratio for whites.

In short, the percentages of Whites are decreasing, Blacks are stabilized/very slowly increasing, Asians are growing, but remain lower in relative percentage, and while Immigration has slown, the Hispanic population will continue to multiply.
U.S. minorities make up 49% of the children born in the U.S.
Minorities are especially important for current and future labor force gains in all but the most rapidly growing parts of the country, he said.”
And many have been given “social” graduations...try hiring one of these young lunkheads.
Unfortunately our immigrants overwhelmingly vote for Democrats. The GOP is fighting just to stay above water as we continue losing the demographic war. We will continue picking up a higher percentage of white voters, but that is overwhelmed by the minorities who don’t understand what made America great and just vote for whomever gives them the most freebies.
It is going to be very difficult to reverse this trend.
“minority population grew by 2.5%, boosted by a surge in births among Latinos”
Importing socialism, poverty and ignorance. Just what the Dems/Rinos love!

Glad I won't be around for that.
This trend better stop. Think of all the work they’ll have to do to rewrite all of the affirmative action rules to substitute “majority” for “minority.”
RE: It is going to be very difficult to reverse this trend.
This could either be a good or a bad thing. If minorities learn to assimilate, learn English and abide by the constitution, we’re OK.
However, If they insist only on speaking their language, refusing to assimilate and refuse to learn and abide by the constitution, pledging allegiance to the countries where their parents or grandparents come from -— then the future of the USA is going to be dire.
With the above scenario, we might find ourselves to be a balkanized and divided country. The “United” States will then be an obsolete name.
personally, I am not making room for any
The big question is, how many more freebie-receivers can be taken in before we run out of money? And then what happens when the freebies start to end? We will most likely end up being a mirror image of Brazil--but at least we will have reached the ever popular achievement of "diversity."
And maybe those open border advocates (Medved et al) and those who hold the world view that whites are the "cancer of the human race" will be content.
Anybody who works, pay taxes, and votes Democrat listening to the lies of these outright communists is a brain-dead sucker selling our nation into bondage. Some of Teddy's great lies, from the floor debate on the Immigration Act of 1965:
"First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same.... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset.... Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia.... In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think.... The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs."
Teddy Kennedy won. He set out to insure America became non-white and he has won. A pox on all of those who believed his caustic lies, both voters and politicians.
So you’re white then. No one else would say anything like that. Everyone else actually care about their race and feel more solidarity towards them than others. That is human nature.
The lamestream media is wetting their pants over the prospect of whites becoming a minority. They can’t wait. They think when the old, white guys lose political power, we will become a peaceful utopia with no racial issues or bias, holding hands and singing Kumbaya my Lord.
You just wait and see what happens when we became a balkanized nation of competing racial factions with no clear majority, all clawing at each other.
The real losers are the black people who were promised they would gain “market share” in the US race composition from the 1965 immigration act. Screwed again. Their numbers have stayed the same while Hispanic populations exploded.
Oh, and who really thinks most Hispanics are “non-white”. The are white. So even though we remain a white nation, because the majority will be Hispanic, the media is singing high praises of this while I’m sure blacks and Asians are saying, “Huh? What?”
The good thing about people is that they can learn...if we are losing the demographic war then that is our fault...shame on us for not planning for the future and let’s change the trend. As for the immigrants, they can also learn...if they are learning the wrong things then shame on us again for not training them correctly.
2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Well, I marked black and a bunch of other races.
No one in my house was the same race.
It’s garbage and they deserve garbage data.
I did, I’m black/creole and I just put “Native American.” My people are Americans, plain and simple and any cultural variation I’m part of only adds to that, doesn’t seperate me from it.
“think when the old, white guys lose political power, we will become a peaceful utopia with no racial issues or bias, holding hands and singing Kumbaya my Lord.”
Just like Zimbabwe!
While I agree with your assessment that all humans are equal under God, it is rather naive to think that all humans are "the same." To illustrate, look at the neighborhoods in the Chicago area that were once white "working class" and are not hispanic (primarily mexican) "working class." While their are positive and negatives about each, you have to make the decision of which type of culture you want to live in.
I would think that most of the people posting into this discussion are white and are concerned about the “minorities” taking over. My point is that skin color is not the true measure of the issue but a man made one that continues to divide us on color issues instead of thought and belief issues.
