After he was charged with first-degree murder by a Peruvian judge, Joran van der Sloot got an earful today from an angry mob of people who yelled and threw objects at him as cops hastily transported the Dutchman to jail.
Lima Superior Court Judge Juan Buendia issued the order before dawn and the 22-year-old suspect was first taken with other prisoners in an armored truck to Lima's judicial palace, then alone to an eastern Lima prison where he will have his own cell in a segregated block.
“The aggravating factors are having acted with ferocity and great cruelty,” the judge said.
Police manhandled van der Sloot as they ushered him quickly out of the truck at into the judicial palace, a scarf around his neck and his hands cuffed behind him. Two officers pushed his head down.
"Disgrace!" and "Murderer!" angry onlookers yelled as van der Sloot was taken from the prosecutor's office where he had been held since Thursday. One person threw rotten lettuce.

LIMA, June 11 (UPI) — Angry Peruvians threw rotten vegetables at homicide suspect Joran van der Sloot as police brought him to a court hearing in Lima.
A judge ruled the 22-year-old Dutch national can be held on murder and robbery charges, ABC News reported. He was covered with a blanket as police brought him in to the courthouse past a crowd yelling insults and throwing vegetables.

It’s ain’t his daddy’s Aruba! I heard that Joran said he would tell authorities what happened to Natalee if he could be sent back to Aruba.
Van der Sloot is a horrid excuse for a human being. This is probably the first time in his life that he did not get away with his dirty tricks.
A better translation would be disgraced, or "desgraciado" in Spanish. This is a big insult in Spanish cultures which translates loosely as despicable.
I do hope Peru has capital punishment.
I hope they hang him.

Not for this type of crime I’ve been told. The maximum is 35 years. Too bad ... he deserves so much worse.
How refreshing and cathartic. Why don't we allow this sort of public venting? Think of the possibilities. For example, we could take Hasan for a walk around base at Ft. Hood and let him hear what people think of him.
Local guy on radio was describing Peruvian prison the other night: 35 inmates to one room, no beds, no toilets, maybe 20 minutes in the yard....
