Singer explains Benatars antinatalist philosophy, which bases its moral framework by weighing the consequences of existence, in this way: everyone will suffer to some extent, and if our species continues to reproduce, we can be sure that some future children will suffer severely. Hence continued reproduction will harm some children severely, and benefit none.
Singer then invites readers to engage in a thought experiment: "So why dont we make ourselves the last generation on earth? If we would all agree to have ourselves sterilized then no sacrifices would be required we could party our way into extinction!"

Why not sterilize Pete Singer?
My stock answer to idiots proposing these things: “you first.”
Let’s start with every leftist first...
Holy crap. Is this guy serious? How could you want... I don’t understand... you want to eradicate the... I don’t get it. I really don’t get it. This has GOT to be a really bad acid trip or a Twilight Zone episode being perpetrated on the world by one severely clever Orson Welles.
Everyone that agrees with this guy should step up and do it. Be a great lesson in natural selection.

Thought experiments are for useless, perenially non-productive academics like yourself, Singer.
Why don’t you provide us, less sophisticated and progressive minds with a palpable illustration: Go HANG around your house somewhere.
We should let him experience the joy of feeling like the last human being on earth. Leave him on a pristine and uninhabited island with no way of communicating with the outside world. Sheer bliss for him.
“Why not sterilize Pete Singer?”
Too bad you could not go back in time and sterilize his mother.
F-ing Nazis
“Lets start with every leftist first...”
This is not just an idle question. There is a site (http://vhemt.org/) where people can sign up to do exactly that. We should be encouraging all the misanthropic leftists we know to go there are become a part of the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement. In one lifetime, our children would enjoy a world free of leftists.
Better, he’ll be Obama’s next US Supreme Court nominee. Kagan is just not radical enough!
I think he’s on to something. Now if only he can get every liberal in the world to volunteer for this that would be great.
When my daughter was in college, one of the required courses featured Singer. When he came to speak in person, a number of students got up and walked out. Not all of them were conservatives, either. Then they showed tapes of his speeches and lectures in subsequent classes. My daughter was very agitated by the tape of his talk. Forcing student exposure to this man lowered this college greatly in my opinion. I shouldn’t be surprised that Obama chose it as one of the first schools he visited.
From Wikipedia:
“Peter Singer

I guess in this country one is free to spew whatever verbal raw sewage one wants, but the fact that he STILL holds positions of authority makes me tremble for the state of education at our “fine” universities.
The problem is that they keep recruiting the children of conservatives to their cause via the “public schools” and “institutions of higher learning”.
If nihilists were true believers, there wouldn’t be any.
"Ster-ril-lize !"
Great idea Pete! You first! Trust me bro, i promise i’ll do it too. Same goes for cult leaders offering cool-aid.
