“My first truck was a ‘67 Chevy with a .327 and three on a tree. To much for a 15 year old. What was daddy thinking???”

As a Chevy dealer for many years, I can tell you that this sort of mentality is STANDARD STUFF at GM!

This NEVER works. EVER. I remember when Pitt football got sick of being called Pitt. The muckety mucks wanted sportscasters to call the team “Pittsburgh.” They took Pitt off the helmets. And so on.

The effort lasted about one season and probably wasted a million dollars.

Chevy ought to take the cost of this effort and put it into building a 35 mpg, 310 hp version of the Camaro. That would beat the new Mustang by a few mpg & hp. Then Ford could build a 40 mpg, 325 hp version of the Mustang. And then Camaro would... well you get the idea. It’s called capitalism. PR is for weinies.

“Baseball
Hotdogs
Apple Pie
And FORD”

In the mid 90s Corvettes, they stamped little icons, (a baseball bat, a pie, and a hot dog), into the panels that hold the rear speakers. It was covered by carpet. It was kind of a cool thing to do for enthusiasts. A little Easter egg.

*sigh* That Chevy is long gone.

I never heard of a ‘57 Chevy being referred to as a ‘57 Chevrotet and hope I never will.

Moronic decisions like this have brought down the US auto industry.

I think it is standard stuff with most auto companies. I co-owned a BMW dealership in the 80’s. Funny, they never forget to put the “squeeze” on the dealers ;-)

GMTA. Even the author of the article noted that ‘The memo, ironically, refers to “Coke,” not Coca-Cola.’

I see that now.

Well, even Chevrolet has a lot of cleaning up of their own websites to do, then.

One example is the Camaro website. The title of the page is "2010 Chevy Camaro Coupe" and one of the tabs at the top of the page is "Experience Chevy."

http://www.chevrolet.com/camaro/

Does this exec believe that people are confused into thinking that Chevy and Chevrolet are two different companies?

COMMUNISM ALERT!

This is a major tenant of Communism: "You must shed and break with the past in order to embrace the future".

The "cuss jar" is simply a mechanism to "correct" wrong political messages coming from the White House. They are echoing Obama's Communist sentiment (sucking up to him) to get the accolades of those in power.

This is a POLITICAL move, NOT Marketing in the purest form of Communism from the Communist-in-Chief and his acolytes.

If we let socialism and communism take foot in America and grow...we will progress from "cuss jars" to correct the "backward thinking" ideas to the other end of the spectrum:
the enforcement of their ideology by the barrel of a gun, esp. for those of us whom will be the last holdouts against "change".

I live in a college town. All these liberals would have never been seen driving a Chevy. It was utterly plebeian. Never mind that their politics ALWAYS supported unions, their pocketbooks supported all those sophisticated non-American cars.
Now, the riffraff such a myself (own three Chevys and a Dodge Ram) will not buy from Government Motors any longer and GM has a problem. They have to disassociate themselves from the riffraff such as me and try to persuade the sophisticated, union-supporting, our merde don't reek Obots that they can actually buy one of their cars. Chevrolet has that je ne sais quoi quality...European, French.
