Four illegal immigrants who ran from police during a traffic stop were arrested Tuesday. But they were quickly released after federal immigration agents refused to pick them up for deportation.
LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The jailhouse doors flew wide open Tuesday to four illegal aliens who ran from police during a traffic stop just one day earlier.
"It's frustrating to some degree, but there's also nothing we can really do about it," said Asst. Chief Jimmy Davis with Loudon County Sheriff's Office.
The quad were among 10 suspected illegals enroute to Knoxville from Texas when their van was stopped along I-75 in Loudon County. The ordeal caused an intense manhunt which even included a Knox County sheriff's chopper.
"We don't know what type of person you're dealing with, why they're fleeing law enforcement, is there some type of narcotics, somebody that's wanted, somebody in the middle of a crime," said Davis.
Turns out Loudon sheriff's deputies did everything right. But it's when they called federal immigration agents to pick up the illegals, and what happened next that has jaws dropping across East Tennessee.
"There's just not the manpower and resources to deport every illegal immigrant that is found in the United States. It's just not possible," said Davis.
Local residents sounded off upon hearing about the releases. "I don't think it's right. They need to send those boys right back," said Greg Keener.
But county deputies lack power to deport illegals. And since the feds refused to, deputies had to cut the group loose.
"Arrest them, hold them, and send them back," said Shirley Goth.
"I think they need to get their stuff together," said Rebecca Keener.
ICE spokeswoman Barbara Gonzalez released this statement reading: "we prioritize our efforts based on those that pose the greatest threat to the community."
The refusal to enforce the law, is the surest avenue to a vigilante society.
We need some new laws - Driving, walking, existing [in the US] while illegal.. it should be a felony.
Why not make them pick up trash until they can pay off the costs associated with their capture (chopper gas, wear & tear, deputy time, etc)...?
We have a budget crunch —Western Union remittances to Mexico should have a 100% tax.
This is for their protection.
Freaking messicans must be having a huge laugh at us, thanx to klintoon, jorge busho, and our current raghead poser-in-chief.
They are not US citizens and they are here illegally. Keep them locked up until the feds do thier job. If the jail is overcrowded, oh well.
Drive the illegals to D.C. and drop them on the steps of the Capitol.
Escort them to Washington DC and then build a fence around the nation’s capitol.
Sheesh! Can’t we as citizens file a class action lawsuit to get the laws upheld? Or are we frickin’ helpless? No recourse?
The local statutes demanded their release (I hope). The Feds are to blame for the carnage these invaders cause.
The good old days, when kids didn't need a government plan to get a job in the summertime.
damn, that brings back some memories. when I about 11 or so and found out somebody would pay, (I think it was 50 cents a flat(?) me to pick berries when my weeks allowance was 20 cents), I thought I was gonna get rich. I didn’t even know what a ‘flat’ was but 50 cents?! for just ONE!? long time ago and I was happy to do have the chance to do it.

Send her back first.
Here’s another one.
Tell this Half-as+ republican what you think about it, http://teamronramsey.com/
Ditto here,, I picked strawberry's for 75 cents a flat when I was in 8th grade,,, how ever old that is, in Washington State. A farm bus would come to a bus stop in the summer, if you wanted to work, no problem, picked you up and brought you back. You could eat all the berries you wanted, not many really.
To this day,, I'm not very fond of strawberry's.
This was around 1970.
Thanks for the headsup.
US intelligence agencies are aware of, and have briefed the US govt, on this threat. But Americans are being betrayed by their own government. The US govt will do nothing to protect its citizens from these illegal Third World savages pouring over our borders, committing crimes, then bring freed to roam our streets.
CASE IN POINT One wonders if US Sen Menendez (D-NJ) is being paid to make the case for mollycoddling illegals. Menendez opposes the very effective e-Verify program put in place by our govt. L/E should investigate Menendez's statements and examine his campaign donations.
ITEM Raids at meat-packing plants across America found workers were illegal aliens using stolen or forged documents. One plant even had a working meth lab. How convenient...and lucrative.... for the drug cartels.
Companies claimed they didn't know the people they hired were illegal; thats when our govt came up with E-verify program.
Menendez has a bill to stop these raids, claiming they "violate the rights of Americans of Hispanic descent" who can't produce a birth certificate or other documents to prove who they are.
Most Americans are required to prove to the state they are legal Americans just to renew driver's licenses---or get a passport----by coming up with several pieces of ID to prove who they are; some have to pay to get new docs and make long trips to get the required docs. But Sen Menendez does not worry about OUR rights.
QUESTION Where do Menendez loyalties lie? When Menendez was under fire for using his elected office to get taxpayer money for a facility he owned and rented out, Menendez took refuge in the Dominican Republic, giving news interviews in Spanish. (Probably also visited his tax-free bank accounts).
QUESTION Where does Menendez get campaign funds? If Menendez is a paid agent of a foreign government, he should be subjected to US laws.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST, ANYONE? Menendez is also connected to a lucrative lobbying group run by his girlfriend (a former aide he divorced his wife for). The lobbying group could easily facilitate payments from foreign governments.
This what Arizona is working on ... if they can enforce the federal laws they can just bus the mexicans to the border, OTMs could be flown south for $200 to their country of origen. Repeats could be jailed and then we could use them in chain gangs for free labor ... just a thought. ;-)
