I’m dubious. Seriously.

Sounds like the MSM trying to help Obama out.

I heard quite a bit about this and it fit’s in well with the BP cultural of beating it’s slaves to row the boat faster.

Tie this together with the Exec Chief selling 1/3 of his shares of stock a few weeks before and you have a conspiracy therory at full boil.

If they’d sealed it up with the heavy mud, it would have just killed the crew of the completion rig when they drilled through the plug.

Not to mention they insisted on continuing even though the anular (the plug that keeps the oil down) was breaking apart and they were getting chunks of rubber out of the pump.

But let’s see that video again of the CEO saying ‘It wasn’t our fault, this was Transocean’s fault...”

That seems to be the consistent story but BP could not have gotten away with that demand if they had not gotten some sort of nod from the agencies of the Obama Administration,

With all their safety violations, I don't think it's going to be too much of a problem to show their criminal liability for ignoring scores of safety issues, especially when you compare Exxon (for an example) to BP ...

With that kind of record from BP, showing rampant and continuing violations, BP sounds like a criminal organization to me....

From another FReeper thread ...

BP's Horrible Safety Record: It's Got 760 OSHA Fines, Exxon Has Just 1

At the depth they were drilling how well does seawater do in replacing “heavy mud” for this?

There was an earlier story in which some mining engineers reported this same thing. BP decided to cut some corners, and get the well operating 5 days sooner. The workers objected, but were overridden. The BP guy said, “I’m the boss, and what I say, goes.” The chief objector got killed in the accident.

I don’t see how this story helps Obama. Quite the opposite. BP bought and paid for Obama and the government. They gave Rahm a free apartment in DC for five years. It would be in the administration’s interest to blame the platform operators, rather than BP.

Yes, I know this is CNN, but a lot of lefties are getting fed up with Obama because he isn’t left enough for them. I think there’s probably something in this.

Moreover, BP is said to have a reputation for cutting corners, and has had more than its share of refinery accidents, according to accounts I have seen.

"In the CNN interviews, the workers described a corporate culture of cutting staff and ignoring warning signs ahead of the blast. They said BP routinely cut corners and pushed ahead despite concerns about safety."

So why did this administration award this same oil rig an award last year for its “exemplary” safety history?

"The BP official wanted workers to replace heavy mud, used to keep the well's pressure down, with lighter seawater to help speed a process that was costing an estimated $750,000 a day and was already running five weeks late, rig survivors told CNN.

BP won the argument, said Doug Brown, the rig's chief mechanic."

Well alrighty then. Obama wants to kick someone's ass, well he can start here. Just call chief mechanic Doug Brown and get the official's name.

"Safety was "almost used as a crutch by the company," Barron said. He said he was once scolded for standing on a bucket on the rig, yet the next day, Transocean ordered a crane to continue operating amid high winds, against its own policies. "It's like they used it against us -- the safety policies -- you know, to their advantage."

Sounds like management everywhere. Say one thing, do another. Although in this instance, management wasn't using safety as a crutch, but rather as a club.

This will all come out, and when it does, I think some BP people are going to spend decades in prison. They ought to, if this is verified and things shape up the way they should as a result.
