I’m dubious. Seriously.

Sounds like the MSM trying to help Obama out.

Hidden in all of this is some sort of arcane EPA regulation restricting the amount of “brown mud” that can be used per day, or per well, or some stupid thing ~ or something along that line.

Actually I heard this before. And I would not be surprised that this is the way it happened?

NOW, A FACE ON THE GULF BP BLOWOUT ~ This guy Chuck Hamel seems to have gotten BP all sensitized to BROWN MUD, and that’s exactly what precipitated this change from brown mud to seawater in the process of pumping cement into the oil well pipe structures to beef them up. No doubt Chucky meant well but he’s one stupid puke Fur Shur ~> http://www.politicalaffairs.net/article/view/989/1/89/

Actually I had heard this story already, just a day or so after the explosion.

So then how is it that Halliburton topped off the well with cement.

This story seems bogus and designed to promote lawsuits and nothing much else.

I haven't clicked on CNN link to read their story but in the final anaylsis it will be the BP call as it was their operation to manage. Here is a clip from another thread which has a short bit about the Congressional hearings discussing at least part of the testing that was ongoing. It all needs to be dealt with under oath and not a he said type environment.

Congressional Testimony and the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill (Best summary yet - Technicals )

The next bullet says: “After 16.5 hours waiting on cement, a test was performed on the wellbore below the Blowout Preventer.” BP explained to us what this means. Halliburton completed cementing the well at 12:35 a.m. on April 20 and after giving the cement time to set, a negative pressure test was conducted around 5:00 p.m. This is an important test. During a negative pressure test, the fluid pressure inside the well is reduced and the well is observed to see whether any gas leaks into the well through the cement or casing.

According to James Dupree, the BP Senior Vice President for the Gulf of Mexico, the well did not pass this test. Mr. Dupree told Committee staff on Monday that the test result was “not satisfactory” and “inconclusive.” Significant pressure discrepancies were recorded.

As a result, another negative pressure test was conducted. This is described in the fourth bullet: “During this test, 1,400 psi was observed on the drill pipe while 0 psi was observed on the kill and the choke lines.”

According to Mr. Dupree, this is also an unsatisfactory test result. The kill and choke lines run from the drill rig 5,000 feet to the blowout preventer at the sea floor. The drill pipe runs from the drill rig through the blowout preventer deep into the well. In the test, the pressures measured at any point from the drill rig to the blowout preventer should be the same in all three lines. But what the test showed was that pressures in the drill pipe were significantly higher. Mr. Dupree explained that the results could signal that an influx of gas was causing pressure to mount inside the wellbore.

Another document provided by BP to the Committee is labeled “What Could Have Happened.” It was prepared by BP on April 26, ten days before the first document. According to BP, their understanding of the cause of the spill has evolved considerably since April 26, so this document should not be considered definitive. But it also describes the two negative pressure tests and the pressure discrepancies that were recorded.

What happened next is murky. Mr. Dupree told the Committee staff that he believed the well blew moments after the second pressure test. But lawyers for BP contacted the Committee yesterday and provided a different account. According to BP’s counsel, further investigation has revealed that additional pressure tests were taken, and at 8:00 p.m., company officials determined that the additional results justified ending the test and proceeding with well operations.

Me too. There is big money for the crew especially if BP is prosecuted with criminal charges.

I’m not. It fits in with all the descriptions of what happened, with the way it happened.

Everyone thinks that Obama and company stood to profit by getting this well turned over to Production. It is true, but only in a limited way.

BP was going green. The Deepwater Horizon Project was the largest holdback to BP selling off it’s deep drilling equipment, and converting all it’s resources to the NEW GREEN INDUSTRIAL CASH BONANZA.

It was behind schedule, delaying Obama’s banning of deep water drilling. Approvals were given at the highest levels for skipping certain ‘procedures’ in the interest of saving time.

The money wasn’t really the issue. More money could not solve the problem of the time it would take to complete the necessary steps to ensure the wellhead remained secure.

Obama and his handlers, wanted to pull BP out of the deep ocean business, and retool into the new GREEN ECONOMY with over $100 billion promised to the UN GREEN INITIATIVE from just the US. Money, Money, Money. They took a risk, had the MMS provide some waivers, and ... you know the rest of the story.

None of this went the way they planned. Except for the part about getting out of the deep well drilling arena.

Not sure how this helps Obama out. Everyday we see a new connection between Obumbler and BP.

This is exactly the same story that was told within hours of the explosion. Not enough time to arrange it then.

I’m not necessarily dubious. Look, from the VERY beginning when I found out BP gave tons of cash to Hussein, I have been of a mind that BOTH parties are to blame.

BP buddies up to Hussein, Hussein’s administration gave BP passes on safety and environmental requirements. Of course, NOW the people of BP are learning: Hussein will turn on them and eat them alive if necessary.

BIG PHARMA, another industry giant that made “friends” with Hussein in exchange for DeathCare reform, will find that out too. Hussein doesn’t care for them, he is USING them.

Hussein only makes temporary alliances with ANY industry or capitalist. Eventually, they will suffer the fate of all who try to make forge an alliance with a totalitarian crocodile: they’ll be devoured. Maybe they’ll be devoured last, but they’ll be devoured.

I guess I'm behind on this one.

How does this accusation take the heat off of Obama?

Do you think he was directing drilling operations, or BP?

Didn't BP donate more to Obama than any other politician? What did Obama know; and when did he know it?

I don’t doubt it at all... I’ve seen managers routinely ignore engineers warnings and make horrific decisions for far less $$ than this.

Did it happen? Can’t say, but do I have any reason to believe that the survivors are lying? Nope. Can I say that this sort of decision is outside the realm of what I’ve seen management types make when faced with facts from engineers? Nope.

Anyone who doubts companies ROUTINELY ignore engineers warnings, has never sat in meetings where engineers rail against doofuses with MBAs who have no clue making decisions about things they just don’t understand.

You think this can’t or doesn’t happen, you are a fool. Go read up on Challenger and what exactly happened there. This sort of thing absolutely could have happened, and given BPs blatant lying since it has happen I have no real reason to believe that these folks are lying.
