"I forget the whereabouts of many items throughout the day. But never my firearm. "

Many years ago ('way pre 9-11-01) I secured my (legal) sidearm(s) in a locker at the airport and rushed down to meet my incoming guest. On my way back out, I realized that I still had a spare, loaded magazine in my pocket!

The walk-through metal detector must have been set on low sensitivity - because it never peeped.

Scared the daylights out of me, even then. Nowadays, my paranoia re the TSA is so high, it would never happen...

I’m guessing she forgot too...but I still think flight crews should be permitted to be armed.

If ya can’t say lagniappe correctly, ya CERTAINLY can’t pronounce Robillard or Hebert correctly ;-)

By the way, not just your weapon; your spare magazine too!

Compared to your handgun, it’s a helluvalot easier to overlook that spare mag lurking surreptitously in the bottom of your computer bag, especially if it’s for a mousegun caliber.

(Don’t ask me how I know, dagnabbit!)

Pronouncing “Hebert” correctly is a bear!

I finally trained myself no longer to lose my Swiss Army Classic pocketknife to the TSA.

Except for when I get to the airport too late to check any bags.

If you’re used to carrying, it’s easy to forget you have your firearm with you.

I take issue with that statement. If you are an airhead, you may forget, and if so do not deserve to own a weapon. I carry daily. I have as much situational awareness of which weapon I am carrying, and which weapon is in which vehicle as I do whether or not I'm wearing underwear or carrying my wallet.

I accidentally carried a 6 inch Case XX lockblade into the TSA checkpoint at CVG (Cincinnati). It was buried in a toilet article kit in a zipper pouch inside my carry on.

Man, I did the “Oh Crap”. The TSA guy was quite nice about it. He said I could take it to my car or they would keep it.

I told him I’d miss my flight but hated to lose it as it was a present. He said to talk to a specific guy in the airport police, and said maybe they would help me. I found the guy and he said that he would put it in the lost and found for me with my name on it.

When I returned two weeks later, I went to the APD and sure enough, the knife was in a ziplock bag with my name on it.

Even the officer that pulled it out of the lost and found couldn’t believe they let me do that!

Accidents happen!

"....full magazine of 10 bullets...."

"bullets"??

Bullets are to cartridges as flour is to bread, cement is to concrete, etc. When will they ever learn?

"According to the Indianapolis Star, Robillard was carrying a 9mm Glock with a full magazine of 10 bullets and a holster."

Her only crime as far as I can tell. She should have been carrying one of these...

At least they said magazine instead of clip so I guess it’s an improvement.

"I finally trained myself no longer to lose my Swiss Army Classic pocketknife to the TSA."

Years ago, I was going to an airshow with my wife. As we were approaching, there was a sign that said no knives or guns. I had my swiss army pocket knife on me which I carry all the time outdoors. My wife was freaking out saying that I should just turn it into them. I told her to calm down and lets see if I can get past the metal detector. It went off, I emptied my one pocket with my change and keys but not the other pocket with the swiss army knife. The second time through I got through the metal detector and went on my way.

It wouldn't be a big deal if everyone could carry on board an airline.

She probably has a concealed carry permit, and forgot to take her carry weapon out of her purse.

"IT ain’t fair, but ya gotta deal within the law."

Agreed, but it is a stupid law. The crew should be allowed to carry if they so choose and get the proper training. That is just common sense that sadly, our nitwits in Washington are sorely lacking in.
