MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm has issued a proclamation that says Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga pitched a perfect game against Cleveland, despite an umpire's blown call.

Bud Selig is the one with horsepower here.
I hereby declare Malibu Jenny to be the “Worst Michigan Governor Ever”.
Symbolism over substance....
Brilliant move by the smartest Canadian in the US :)
Mark Steyn is the Governor of Michigan?
Isn’t that sweet? Selig, for once,is right. Until replay is in the rulebook for that situation, too bad. Although the ump who made the dumbass call could have asked for help right there and the crew chief could have overruled right there on the spot.
Governor should butt out.
The Commish was supposed to make a decision about the call.
...thy name is Democrat.
“Although the ump who made the dumbass call...”
It wasn’t as easy a call as some have made it out to be. At least he admitted he was wrong...
The toughest thing people have to learn in life, is that things are not always fair. Galarraga accepted the situation. His manager did. The team did.
This governor should grow up. Even most fifteen year old kids know this lesson.
I’m sorry Galarraga got cheated out of this accomplishment, but his name well forever be ensconced in baseball lore because of it. He will be a household name long after he is dead.
You and I should be so lucky.
He knew he blew it. He could have asked for help.

Glad the problems in Michigan are so solved the Governor can afford the time to screw around with crap like this.
Galarraga deserves a “*” by his name...it is a perfect game as far as I’m concerned. It’s simply another sign the game has gone down a notch...with second-class umps now working for the major leagues.
I watched the game and it was actually pretty routine. Even the TV announcer doing the play by play called him out and then had to reverse his call to match the umpire.
I’m sure a lot of close plays at the plate are “miscalled”. The game would have been incontestably perfect if the pitcher had thrown a final pitch that could not have been hit. Both men acted with class.
Granholm is grandstanding, and could better spend her time on reducing Michigan’s unemployment rate.
I wish I could get her to spend 100% of her time on crap like this. She would have less time to screw over every Michigan taxpayer.
Our society has spent a lot of time and effort making things *fair*. It used to be about fairness of opportunity; it's now about fairness of outcome. What Governor Grandstand is doing here will appeal to that mentality, and be seen as a meaningful act.
