A U.S. citizen who lived in Turkey is among the nine people killed when Israeli commandos stormed a Turkish aid ship heading for the Gaza Strip, officials said today. The victim was identified as Furkan Dogan, 19, a Turkish-American. A forensic report said he was shot at close range, with four bullets in his head and one in his chest, according to the Anatolian news agency.
Dogan was a high school student studying social sciences in the town of Kayseri in central Turkey. He was born in the United States and moved to Turkey at the age of 2. He will be buried in his hometown tomorrow.
The body was returned to Turkey today along with eight others, all Turkish nationals, who were on board the Mavi Maramara.

Just as the children of illegals should not be citizens, the children of people who are here on temporary visas should not be citizens as well. They should be treated like the children of foreign envoys.
True enough. A tread mark is a tread mark to the squashee, I suppose.

The ASSUMPTION here is that the IDF shot him, forgetting of course that the ‘peace’ activists had taken some of the Iraeli soldiers guns.
Sounds like a setup to me.
5 shots, close range?
I don’t care what his legal nationality was.
He was as American as Rachel Corrie or. ...which of course is not American at all.
BS, sounds like he was in the way of an automatic weapon.
Four shots to the head and one to the chest sounds like automatic fire.
The other 10 or 15 bullets missed.
How big is an Uzi clip anyway?
Wow. You really showed me, didn't you? Gosh.
Look at the big picture, sonny. This is going to be a black eye for the IDF.
Maybe not. We have no idea where in the head and chest this young man was shot. This easily could have been the result of a shooter firing on full-auto at close range. Barrel travel while shooting on full-auto could explain the four in the chest and the one in the head.
Also, multiple shooters engaged on a single target could also easily explain the number of wounds.
What's less likely? While engaging a hoard of angry vigilantes, the IDF takes the time to shoot wounded on the ground. It's just not very plausible, given the scenario.
Perhaps. You're trying to explain it away, clearly. But you have to look at the other possibility, too. Even if you don't want to.
Inverse "Mozambique Drill"?
Not to ruin the FR pancake industry, but Rachel Corrie cracked her head on top of the dozer blade.
She wasn’t squashed by anything.
I was thinking more about the fact he was on a boat with 5 bits of well placed IDF lead in him. Add a chain and it's anchors aweigh...
Good thing the Israelis got him. The islamaniacs would have eventually used his citizenship to send him on a mission to the US.
But it's less believable for what is reported here, which is four shots to the head and one to the chest.
bummer ....
Well give the kid some credit for standing still, at night, on a moving ship, while the commando was being ...um...hugged by peaceniks and..um the kid stays standing, to bravely, get shot in the head once, twice, thrice, and a forth time, and with the strength of Allah( pbuh ) takes one to the left ventricle.
What a martyr! Proof of rightness against Jew bullets.
Furkan Dogan, our new Rachel Corrie!
/sarc off
I’ve heard the double-tap reference from dramas about the SAS. (Not saying they originated it).
“Mouth-shot, double-tap” has the sort of unsqueamish pragmatism you want in a hostage situation.
Again, good shooting.
I hear that there was a guy from Whidbey Island, in WA state, near me, too. That is no surprise, either, since one of the ships was named the "Rachel Corrie".
