Stop the hypocrisy about Israel
cnn.com ^ | June 1, 2010

Enjoy hypocrisy? This past weekend you could glut the appetite.

On Monday, Israeli ships stopped a flotilla carrying materials that could be used for war, including cement that Israel maintained could be used to build bunkers, to Hamas-ruled Gaza. The crew of one boat resisted violently, triggering a firefight in which nine people were killed, most of them Turkish nationals.

Turkey is protesting vigorously. But, question: Turkey is a NATO ally, an applicant to the European Union. What is it doing allowing its nationals to smuggle cement that could build bunkers? Especially when those nationals belong to a group, the Turkish IHH (Insani Yardim Vakfi) that Israel has designated a terrorist organization?

The flotilla departed from Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus. Turkey's occupation of half of Cyprus is deemed illegal by the European Union and the United Nations. If the government of Turkey feels so strongly about ending disputed occupations, why does it not start with the disputed occupation it is operating itself?

The flotilla followed a breathtaking Friday at the United Nations. The 189 signatories of the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty agreed on a final list of resolutions for a safer world. The nuclear threat from Iran? Unmentioned. Instead, the NPT resolution targeted -- what a surprise -- Israel.

Shamefully, the Friday resolution was joined by the United States. Yes, the Obama administration issued a statement at the same time that "deplores the decision to single out Israel" and also "the failure of the resolution to mention Iran." The administration deplored -- but it signed.

The Obama administration's signature marks an abrupt departure from previous U.S. policy.

Yet the UN doesn't seem nearly as exercised about North Korea committing an act of overt aggression and killing 50 ROK sailors.

Wonder why?

Don’t forget there was a lot of talk recently about inviting Israel to join the EU as well. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the entire thing was a set up to prevent Israel from joining the EU. You know, the Muslims plan to take over Europe next...

We've seen Obama as the Joker, when will we see Obama as Two-Face?

The U.N. is a Cabal of Dictators, no wonder Obama feels so welcome.

Was there any outcry from the UN when Tehran was shooting at the people marching for democracy in Iran?

Any mention of the mischaracterized coup in Honduras?

Oh, excuse me. O said he didn’t want to meddle in another country’s affairs.

Meddling is only a good thing when it comes to Israel bashing.

One of my co-workers believed that the U.S. jumped into the Balkan war to prevent Turkey from jumping in on the side of the Muslims, thus placing two NATO countries on opposite sides. That objective was accomplished, but it has only delayed the inevitable. The Turks have been leaning heavily in the Muslim direction. The government is supposed to be secular, but that isn't what has been going on over the last 10 years. Supporting this phony "flotilla" is evidence that they are happy to further Islamic terrorism. The bad news is that they have access to NATO information. An ally turning against you after having access to classified info is not a good development.

If only the Turkish military still had the stones to stand up to Erdogan and his show trials of their officers.

Turkey is the ONLY country I can think of where I support the Left over the Right. The Left in Turkey stands for the secularism of Ataturk, the Right in Turkey stands for clericalism and Islamism.

Because they are cowards. They know they can hurl venom at Israel and Israel will stoically take it and cooperate. In contrast, NK might throw a tantrum and destory Seoul. I swear that the Korean UN SECGen (Ban Ki-Moon) must have the IQ of a carrot.

Simple answer: muslim nazism. They hate the west as much as Obama and the democrats.

Having spine in Turkey can be a pain in the neck...as in beheading. I've noticed that Turks are very reticent to speak or act as "failure" is punished brutally. One of my co-workers observed a sentry who wasn't fully paying attention to his job. His superior escorted him behind the guard shack and beat him to a bloody pulp with his rifle butt.

On another occasion, my dad received a call from the commanding officer of a Turkish vessel tied up at 32nd St Naval Station, San Diego. He asked for permission to conduct an execution on the fantail of the vessel. My dad denied the request. The commanding officer notified my dad that they would be casting off lines at 7 AM. The did so. The ship travelled beyond the 12 mile mark from the coast and executed the sailor. His crime? He returned drunk to the ship and took a swing at the officer of the deck.

A third experience passed along to me by my dad. A Turkish soldier was ordered to get a haircut. He refused. The barber was instructed to give him a "permanent wave". He did. The picture sequence showed the soldier with hands bound behind him, on his knees. The barber beheaded him.

The week I visited Izmir, there were 5 members of the cabinet who said something "offensive" to the rest of the body. That was in the Sunday paper. By Tuesday, the cabinet has passed an ex post facto law making their offense a capital offense. On Thursday, all 5 were executed. I was very pleased when my flight lifted off from Izmir. The place can be exceptionally brutal.

Given that background, what is the probability of the Turkey military "having the stones" to stand up to the President? It would be a fruitless effort ending in a room temperature finish.

How appropriate. I found a shirt for him. The Welsh word for carrot is "moron".

Left and right are confused in Turkey. The Islamists run a welfare party. The Kemalists are nationalist. Which is right and which is left, both are.

So true, it can only lead to bad things, but maybe, just maybe, it will turn out to be the start of the conclusion, and we rid ourselves of this menace of terrorism.

I am glad all these pigs are coming out of the wooodwork. Now we know who the real enemies are and what scum the left really is. The are over confident, they have overplayed their hand. All these cretins think world public opinion is with them. The problem (for them) is that they neither have the ability or the wherewithal to stop us when we throw their asses out and hang the whole lot of them.
