When it comes to emails, mistakes happen all the time. But very rarely do they involve former Vice Presidents of the United States.
So it was quite surprising to see CNN.com inadvertently reveal the email address of Al and Tipper Gore Tuesday afternoon.
"Our intention was to keep the email address confidential, and CNN corrected the online post as soon as we discovered the error," a CNN spokesperson told WebNewser.
So what happened? CNN.com today posted a story about Al and Tipper Gore's separation. The story included a link to a PDF of the email the Gores sent to friends. While the email address was blacked out in the PDF, clicking on the black bar opened the user's preferred email client, revealing the address used to send the note.
As the spokesperson noted, CNN has since changed the article to remove the offending PDF, but it was still online for nearly two hours, likely attracting thousands of clicks.
The email is pictured below, with the email address dutifully obscured, even when you click on it. See how easy it is guys?

I can’t come up with anything that at a minimum wouldn’t be pulled by the Mods.
