An animal welfare group said Tuesday that a graphic video it secretly recorded shows workers at a dairy farm beating cows with crowbars, stabbing them with pitchforks and punching them in their heads.
The video was recorded in an undercover investigation at Conklin Dairy Farms Inc., said Mercy For Animals, a not-for-profit group that publicizes what it calls cruel practices in the dairy, meat and egg industries and promotes a vegan diet.

That would be alleged owner. You can not always believe these videos.
It does have a formal name - “animism”.
Environmentalists and animal rights folks are animists,
and they hate Christians, no surprise, for replacing their doctrines of animism (deifying nature) with the concept that the earth was created for humans to use until the end times when the earth is remade.
They see the earth and nature as more important than humans because it “lives” longer.
Christians see humans as more important than nature, the state, “society”, etc, because human souls are eternal, and all other things will pass away.
“Slow, long cook time! That is wrong. Fast searing on a super hot grill and eat it blood rare!”
Single steaks - definitely; however, we are looking at whole sides of beef here! Slow, low heat cooking!
“Now...back to the video. RE: the sadistic PIGs who are torturing the cows - cook their goose!”
I agree!
If they had stuck to a running game after the coin toss, they'd have won. Their quarterback is awful.
Those psychopathic sadists need to be in jail where other psychopaths can dole out some justice.
Actually, it seems not. His job seems to have been quite peripheral to that, but he was supposed to alert Taub if the caretakers screwed up. Now, you can argue that he didn’t - but I don’t know how easy Taub would have been to get hold of. He did alert authorities. He also documented the current status with film, which may or may not have been value-neutral (in that situation I would certainly want hard data on everything).
the way to get action is to make it public - email the video to the local TV station and papers. Exposure will force local authorities that are ignoring this to take action.

The people in this video should be in prison, NOT within a hundred miles from dumb animals.
“Mercy for Animals” literally jumps on the opportunity, not to punish the perps, but to advocate “Ditch Dairy”. Not improve the industry, get rid of it. Never mind the thousands of dairy and beef operations where 1/100th of this depravity would never be tolerated, just eliminate the entire industry.
“Mercy for Animals” is opportunistic and is typical of A/R fanaticism. In their own way, they are as bad as the abuse they portray. They do nothing to suggest realistic solutions.
Want true animal welfare? Read Temple Grandin’s work. Right now I’m reading her new book, “Animals Make Us Human”. She puts her money where her mouth is, making the lives of farm animals better and reducing farm workers’ abusive behavior toward the creatures in their care.
I wanna kick these guy's asses.
I could do it, too.
Nuke the site from orbit.
It's the only way to be sure.
This is the kind of saidistic vulgarity one finds in some corporate agri business.
No real “farmer” would do such things.
It's the same way with FReepers.
I’m hungry for a nice juicy steak...

“His job seems to have been quite peripheral to that, but he was supposed to alert Taub if the caretakers screwed up.”
I’m not sure you recognize how contradictory your sentence is. If he was supposed to alert Taub (the director of the research) if subpar care of the animals occurred then his job was not peripheral to that. This was an important task because that particular research project could be invalidated by subpar care through the introduction of variables that could not be controlled.
As far as the other lab personal, it was reported that they were animal activists as well working in concert with Pacheco.
“A 1990 Washingtonian Magazine article also alleged that Pachecos snapshots had been staged with the help of another lab technician. “
You seem intent on defending Pacheco so I’ll leave you with the last word. The is just something we’ll agree to disagree about.
I hope every single one of the sadistic bastards beating these animals receive the same treatment from their cell mates in prison.
Some FReepers like abuse. LOL
You seem intent on defending Pacheco
Not really. I just like facts.
Washingtonian magazine settled its third lawsuit in 10 weeks yesterday, agreeing to apologize to an animal rights group and to make an unspecified donation to the animal rights movement.
The $3 million libel suit by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) named freelance writer Katie McCabe for her February 1990 article, titled "Beyond Cruelty." The magazine, which paid for McCabe's defense, agreed to "acknowledge that some of the statements in the article are incorrect and others require clarification," and to express "sincere regrets for any difficulties caused by
