Can this be for real? From Carly Fiorina's Twitter feed:
@CarlyforCA Breaking news: Fiorina 46%, Campbell 23%, DeVore 14% according to new Survey USA poll. Proof that hard work pays off!
This, I'm told by the Fiorina campaign, was just reported on television on L.A. The last SurveyUSA poll showed Fiorina trailing Campbell 35% to 24%, with DeVore in third at 15%. So, if true, this new poll would represent a huge swing--such a huge swing that I'm curious to see the actual poll.
Yep. Obligation can get her some slack for supporting RINO Juan McAmnesty over conservative JD Hayworth. But when she chooses Fiorina over DeVore she hasn’t got the excuse that she owes Carly anything. It looks like nothing other than hack GOP politics without principle.
With all due respect, it would be unlikely for someone running as a moderate in a statewide race in California to lie about being pro-life and pro-gun (I’ll give you that lying about being pro-marriage would be a smart move). And Carly Fiorina doesn’t go around bragging about her socially conservative positions, but downplays them so as not to turn the election into a referendum on abortion and guns (one that, unfortunately, we would likely lose), which is consistent with someone who holds those conservative positions but is being told by handlers not to emphasize them.
To answer your 2nd question better: I looked up her FEC filings. I don’t see any contributions to IMP-PAC by McMahon, but I do contributions to Republican Majority for Choice, and the Republican Leadership Council, which has considerable ties to IMP-PAC. And of course, there’s those large contributions to Rahm Emmanuel and his PAC.
because many there are republicans not conservatives.
isn’t she liberal on social issues like homosexual agenda , abortion?
agreed
I’m sick to death of people or a party saying look we got a woman or a back person or hispanic for the job , I want a person who is qualified for the job regardless
I just looked it up, and I remembered correctly:
MCMAHON, LINDA
GREENWICH,CT 06831 WWE INC./CEO 9/25/06 $1,500 Its My Party Too PAC
She also donated to a couple of PACs whose names sound like euphemisms for “pro-abortion” (two of which are openly pro-Democrat):
MCMAHON, LINDA
GREENWICH,CT 06831 WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION/CEO 9/16/07 $2,500 Our Common Values PAC (D)
MCMAHON, LINDA E
GREENWICH,CT 06831 WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT INC./ 5/22/06 $5,000 Forward Together PAC (D)
MCMAHON, LINDA
GREENWICH,CT 06831 SELF/CANDIDATE FOR U.S. SENATE 11/17/09 $5,000 Every Republican is Crucial PAC (R)
And $10,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee just five weeks prior to the DCCC managing to defeat Congressman Rob Simmons (Linda’s main primary opponent this year) by just 83 votes? Unseemly is the least of it.
MCMAHON, LINDA E
GREENWICH,CT 06831 WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT INC./ 9/29/06 $10,000 Democratic Congressional Campaign Cmte (D)
Alas, Rob Simmons has called a press conference for tomorrow to discuss the future of his campaign, and it is rumored that he will announce that he is dropping out of the primary.
You sound like someone from socialist international. No, I sound like someone who knows how political campaigns play out.
I seriously doubt that Boxer would rather run against the moderate-to-conservative female cancer survivor who can write a check for tens of millions of dollars than against a RINO and an archconservative who won’t be able to raise any money.
Yep.
Liberal Republicans must NEVER be rewarded.
Personally, I'd rather be stabbed in the face than stabbed in the back.
I can't say I'm sold on Fiorina, but she is absolutely preferable to Campbell.
“isnt she liberal on social issues like homosexual agenda , abortion?”
btw, I really messed up here, so I'm heading out.....
Paying $10,000 to defeat that DIABLO Simmons was or would have been money well spent! 2nd worst Republican in Congress; more liberal than over 100 Democrats. Please, God, pleeeeease let Schiff win, somehow!
No, she's a McCain acolyte, and only God knows that we don't need more of those sorts on Capitol Hill.
Given that DeVore has never come close to the 33% minimum he would need to win the primary, I think that we all need to support Carly Fiorina.
Wrong.
Prior to Campbell's entry into the race, DeVore polled even with Fiorina at 27 percent in a Nov. 2009 Los Angeles Times poll (source) with 40 percent undecided at the time.
With the 20+ percent undecided in nearly every poll (source) over the past few months, I would say that DeVore still has a reasonable chance of beating both Campbell and Fiorina, and I find it deeply deplorable that folks like yourself (and unfortunately, Palin, though one could argue that she has been corrupted by McCain's people) are so willing to abandon DeVore (whom McClintock--a man viewed favorably by conservatives and conservative-leaning libertarians--has endorsed) at this stage of the game...and for naught but mere "electability" (i.e., political expediency).
This year is the year of the Tea Party.
If we can't elect conservatives and libertarians this year, then we can't elect them, period.
Chuck DeVore is the real conservative in the Republican primary for the contested U.S. Senate seat from the State of California.
Fiorina and Campbell are both egregious RINOs, and any so-called "conservative" who is eager and willing to surrender to them at this stage in the game is either a RINO himself (or herself) or a coward.

BTT
I also know CA very well as it is my home state.
I know exactly what type of Republicans can win here.
Fiorina can win and DeVore cannot.
CA voters are more attracted towards people with private sector business experience than career politician types.
We heard the exact same arguments in 2003, in favor of Schwarzenegger.
How'd that work out?
FWIW, I think that this is a probably a preemptive strike against DeVore, in the nature of a push-poll.
In related questions, I wonder how many people are out there confusing computer-moneyed ‘Pubbie woman Carly Fiorina and computer-moneyed ‘Pubbie woman Meg Whitman?
Rob Simmons represented the most heavily Democrat district in the country held by a Republican (with only Leach’s IA-02 coming close), and was a solid vote on national security and economic issues. Yes, he was (and is) a liberal on social issues, and, most egregiously, voted against the ban on partial-birth abortion. But you must admit that Joe Courtney has been much worse, though.
There is no excuse for donating $10,000 to the DCCC. Rob Simmons would have never done that.
Rabscuttle, you do realize that (i) guilt by association is no way to judge a candidate and (ii) a senator with John McCain’s voting record would be TERRIFIC for a state like California, right? McCain is too liberal for AZ, but it would be a huge coup to elect someone like him in CA.
As for DeVore, I supported him over Fiorina before Campbell entered the race (although, in all honesty, I was hoping that more prominent conservatives such as McClintock or Issa would enter the race), since I would rather send the 100% conservative into battle (and at the time I was under the mistaken impression that Fiorina was neither pro-life nor pro-gun). But with the RINO Campbell jumping in and making it a two-person race between him and Fiorina in poll after poll after poll, with DeVore not coming close to winning, I’m supporting Fiorina as the only non-RINO who can beat Campbell in the primary.
BTW, I haven’t said that DeVore was unelectable against Boxer, just that he’s not going to win the primary and if conservatives split their vote between Fiorina and DeVore that Campbell will win. But, since you mention “electability,” I must say that it would be easier for Fiorina than for DeVore to beat Boxer given Fiorina’s (i) profile, (ii) issue positions and (iii) money (the third being the most important.
If Fiorina was a RINO, I would support DeVore no matter what, but that is not the case. Fiorina is an acceptable candidate (if elected, she would probably be the most conservative U.S. Senator from California in over 50 years), and she has a realistic chance of winning the primary, so I will support her in order to keep Campbell from winning. And, believe me, Boxer is not looking forward to facing Fiorina in the general.
