Somethings are just too incredible to believe unless you see it for yourself. Well what we have here is Shelby County (TN) Commissioner Steve Mulroy being interviewed by a TV reporter. While the camera is rolling, a panhandler walks up to the commissioner, tells him to keep his mouth shut and to hand over $2.00.

After the commissioner refused to give him the money, the panhandler then demanded that the politician have two dollars for him every time he sees him. The whole incident is only funny after the fact because there was no physical violence. As you will see, the commissioner is obviously caught off guard by the whole incident. I must admit that Mulroy handled the whole extortion attempt quite admirably for a politician.

But what's the difference? This guy only wants $2. Obama will take a lot more than that (while pointing a gun at your head).

That's true. I would not be at all surprised if a political opponent had paid the panhandler to harass the guy in hopes he would do something politically damaging while on camera.

Considered how the media treated it, I would say if it was a political trick, it backfired. Made the commissioner look like a decent fella.

Trying that with the commissioners in my county would have probably ended with the threatener "proned pout" with a sizable handgun pointed at him until the sheriff's boys picked him up.

In fact, one of our commissioners is a TX CHL instructor, and is whom I went to for my last CHL renewal. (The guy has a nice private range, too...)
