The city has implemented a new policy that will screen every person who is arrested to see if the person is in the country legally.

As of the 19th it was 31 out of 320 arrested.

The leftists say “The Republicans in Congress can’t keep saying ‘No’; they’re going to have to join with the Republicans to get ‘comprehensive’ immigration reform.” My rejoinder is now “Good. Let the Republicans in Congress keep saying ‘No!’. The States will take care of this for us and I won’t have to accept citizenship for illegal aliens. Isn’t Federalism wonderful!”

The morning KKOB host said that since the policy has been implemented 320 people had been processed through the Albuquerque law enforcement system, and of those, 31 were found to be illegal aliens. That's roughly 10%. Also, judging from the various local talk shows in the last few days, public opinion is overwhelmingly for the new policy.

What’s really interesting to me regarding cities claiming they are boycotting AZ or whatever... Who makes that call?
Wouldn’t there need to be a public referendum to approve such a measure? Since most folks are on the side of AZ... you’d think making the Boycott decision is like hammering a nail into your own casket come election time.
I’d say if you’re an incumbant on City Council or the Mayor and have approved the boycott and your constituents don’t agree... ADIOS during the next election. Gives a lot of ammo for anyone who wants to run for office.
