If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight.
That's the message from a member of Arizona's top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution.
Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote the letter in response to the Los Angeles City Council's decision last week to boycott the Grand Canyon State -- in protest of its immigration law -- by suspending official travel there and ending future contracts with state businesses.

Dear Mayor Villaraigosa,I was dismayed to learn that the Los Angeles City Council voted to boycott Arizona and Arizona-based companies — a vote you strongly supported — to show opposition to SB 1070 (Support our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act).
You explained your support of the boycott as follows: “While we recognize that as neighbors, we share resources and ties with the State of Arizona that may be difficult to sever, our goal is not to hurt the local economy of Los Angeles, but to impact the economy of Arizona. Our intent is to use our dollars — or the withholding of our dollars — to send a message.” (emphasis added)
I received your message; please receive mine. As a state-wide elected member of the Arizona Corporation Commission overseeing Arizona’s electric and water utilities, I too am keenly aware of the “resources and ties” we share with the City of Los Angeles. In fact, approximately twenty-five percent of the electricity consumed in Los Angeles is generated by power plants in Arizona.
If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation. I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands. If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy.
People of goodwill can disagree over the merits of SB 1070. A state-wide economic boycott of Arizona is not a message sent in goodwill.

One environmentalist do a study to ensure that the light bulb would have no impact on any insects or animals in the area.
Maybe that’s where Sheriff Joe got his idea for “Pedal to Watch! County jail inmates have to pedal a bike in exchange for the privilege to watch television. He touts the health benefits-it’s hysterical. If you ever get a chance watch his interviews-he pulls no punches.
Of course, but it has to pass through AZ to get to Cali.

Arizona should wait until LA refuses to pay their next electrical bill and shut their grid down to LA. Then they can say, “We shut the grid down because LA won’t pay their bills.”

The endangered salt marsh harvest mouse (Reithrodontomys raviventris), also known as the Red-bellied Harvest Mouse is for real. It is thought to be native to San Fancisco area but for the purposes of this letter there are likely populations further south.

No kidding. I have only been here from California for 3 1/2 years, but Arizonans are different.
1) They are much friendlier than Californians
2) They say what they mean.
3) They carry guns with no permit(don’t need one)
4) They will NOT be pushed around.
