In a move that's not likely to improve the angry relations between Gov. Charlie Crist and the Republican Party, Crist's U.S. Senate campaign announced it won't refund contributions given to the campaign before he became a no-party candidate.
"People donated to a good cause, and we intend to spend their money on it," campaign spokeswoman Michelle Todd said.

This is a good old fashioned case of bait and switch, pure and simple. Just as much as if you bought a Ford and were delivered a Yugo with the smug assurances of the car salesperson that it's just as good.
Charlie Crist is well on his way to becoming the poster child for the dishonest politicians at every level that have put our great country in the sad state of affairs we see these days.
Frankly, I will consider Florida fortunate if we can ride his term out and thank God, literally, that he's been put out of our misery. Of course, there's still lots of time between now and the end of his term and he's a pretty clever fellow. He might still find a way to really punish us for not liking his brand of politics.
Isn’t he required to return the donations?
This guy just killed his political career....
He’s so RINO he makes other RINOs blush with embarrassment.
And people wonder why I won’t donate directly to a candidate or the RNC. This sort of fiscal malfeasance is all over the place. My money goes to the NRA and my church. At least those two organizations put it where I can see it in action.
i predict this arrogant so-and-so goes down in self-ignited flames.
If this doesn’t cost him the election, I’ll be very surprised....he’s a snake, and cannot be trusted by anyone...
Stop payment on all checks?
Crist’s spokesperson said that the contrbutions were for the “Crist for Senator Campaign” rather than the Republicans, so it makes no difference if he runs as something besides a Republican.
That reasoning would say that a person has to contribute through the Republican party if they want to avoid this happening. But if the Republican party is going to endorse RINO’s, that’s not a good option either.
This move by Crist may discourage people from making campaign contributions at all.
Well, frankly, anyone who donated to the Crist for Senate campaign is either a flaming RINO or wasn’t paying any attention.
I don’t give a dime to the RNC or the other Republican organizations, because they can be counted on to misuse it. But I also don’t give to RINOs.
Sounds like Crist is a thief.
then can he be sued for not returning the money based on what and who he was running on.
I just hope Crist gets voted out of here as he is a rat in sheeps clothing much like many of the GOP today.
the comments about will always run as a republican needs to be played over and over as many still have no clue he stitched parties
Feed a RINO and you’re bound to get gored.
I refuse to donate now to the RNC, my money goes to candidates I see fit to hold office not a party which has many rats dressed as a republican.
in the 90’s the rat party put out many of their people running as R’s to fool the voters and it worked and sadly it’s up to us to get the message out as the media is on in this too .
The GOP cares about being nice to the rats, to the NY times etc and they won’t even speak up and I’;m sick and tired of it
Now they know what it like being a conservative with a RINO representing you.
Oh, if I lived in Florida, I’d sue him on behalf of all donors. That would be a nice bit of fun.
What a freakin’ scumbag.
Hopefully this will be the final straw for the people who were considering voting for Crist. I washed my hands of him many months ago and am spreading the word to all who will listen that he needs to be put out to pasture. Rubio is the man.
A fool and their money are soon parted.
Don’t give money to theives.
Way to go.I'm with ya.
