The origin of modern myths and legends is a side interest of mine, the birther myths among them.
Now I understand why Obama being born in Kenya made it into your belief system, despite it being physically impluasible (requiring around 5 days and five flights, most on propeller planes) and financially impossible (it would have cost about a year of her parents' combined salaries) for Stanley Ann & Obama Sr. to travel there for her to give birth. After all, Obama's Father was from Kenya, so if you are going to make up a myth about Obama being born abroad, what better place than Kenya?
Implausibilty, and even impossiblilty doesn't deter the making of myths if there is a strong emotional reason to believe them, as in this case.
What I don't understand is, of all possible places in Kenya, why make Mombassa the birthplace in your myth? If you look at the map of Kenya, it's on the other end of the country from Obama Sr.'s village, 762 miles away, which would make it a minimum 2 day train ride. Probably longer, since Kenyan trains were very fast in 1961.
I suppose you could argue that there were no hospitals in Obama's village, so they had to travel to a major city. But Nairobi was closer, and more modern.
So why Mombassa? Not only is it completely implausible; I don't see the emotional appeal. Why Mombasssa rather than his father's village? Or why Mombassa rather than Nairobi?
Help me out here, birthers. Why do you reserve this special place for Mombassa in your belief system?
Nah.... You’re all right. Flame proof too.
That comment would put you squarely in the same group of “Internet Rumoring” and not knowing the difference betweeen an official document and a hole in your a**.
Yep.
Thank you for verifying that Sarah Obama never said Obama wasn't born in Mombasa. The translator OGOMBE did!
On the reason why Dr Sun Yat-Sen went to Hawaii.
Actually, his aim was to travel to the mainland in violation of the Chinese Exclusion Act for the purpose of fund raising to help the Chinese Revolution. Of course, if he had known Mao would come along, maybe he'd have cooled it.
I thank you for the correction, always willing to learn more. One wonders how many persons are walking around today, with a "bonafide" birth certificate that opens many doors within the USA? A birth certificate that actually mistates the facts. Just a chance the President could be one of them. He ain't talkin.' (chuckle)
and how do you know this?
also, I am sure things were different in 1961 than they were in 1904 (or whenever Sun Yatsen got his docs)
and your evidence is? or is this just speculation?
ok.
"The document may be fake, but let's talk about what it says."
The territorial laws have been posted in other threads regarding Obama’s undocumented birth.
I have a simple question for you, has the State of Hawaii ever recognized Sun Yat Sen's Hawaiian birth certificate was fraudulent?
If not then they still accept a bogus document issued by them as legitimate.
I don’t think anyone really cares
and where were these facts gleaned from?
It shows a pattern of abuse.
If Hawaii still accepts Sun Yat Sen birth certificate as legal, it shows that they are perfectly willing to accept any fraudulent birth certificate that they have issued as legal as long as it is in their vital records .
As has been shown in the past Hawaii will issue a Hawaiian birth certificate to anyone that says they were born there and even to those they know were not born there.
What part of ‘territorial laws’ do you not understand?? The registration of births in Hawaii is a fairly standard process. Some laws and procedures carried directly over from territorial days to statehood, for example:
“The Certificate of Hawaiian Birth program was established in 1911, during the territorial era, to register a person born in Hawaii who was one year old or older and whose birth had not been previously registered in Hawaii. The Certificate of Hawaiian Birth Program was terminated in 1972, during the statehood era.”

Me: By plane, paid for by the foundation that was sponsoring him to study at the Universtiy of Hawaii.
You guys: Do you have a source for that statement???
Me: Sure. Obama Sr. was brought to the University of Hawaii as part of a student airlift sponsored by Tom Mboya. Here’s an article that talks about it:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/29/AR2008032902031.html?nav=hcmodule
Now I’m sure you guys will jump all over the fact that the article is about how Bambi lied about the Kennedy role in bring his father to the states. Yes, I agree that’s true. Bambi doesn’t has a tendency to stretch the truth, and sometimes outright lie. That makes him a scumbag, but, unfortuantely, it doesn’t make him ineligible to be president.
That said, the article supports my point: Obama Sr. did not travel to the US on his own dime. There is no way he could have afforded it. He got to Hawaii because someone paid his way.
Thanks. That clears it up. Amazing how birthers will jump on any piece of misinformation they see, no matter the soruce.
LOL. So one fraudulant birth certificate shows a "pattern"?
You need to go look up the word pattern.
If Hawaii still accepts Sun Yat Sen birth certificate as legal,
Actually, Sun Yat Sen didn't have a birth certificate or a COLB. He has a "Certificate of Hawaiian Birth," which is a whole other animal, and does not have the same evidentiary weight as the Obama COLB. For instance, Sun Yat Sun could NOT get a US passport with his document, whereas Obama could with his COLB.
