The 76-year-old Mojave Cross war memorial in San Bernardino County's High Desert has been torn down by vandals, just days after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the religious symbol could remain -- at least temporarily -- on public land.
Sometime Sunday night, the cross was taken down from its perch atop Sunrise Rock in the Mojave National Preserve, according to Liberty Institute, a group that represented veterans groups and caretakers of the cross in the recent Supreme Court Case.
"This is an outrage, akin to desecrating people's graves," said institute president Kelly Shackelford. "It's a disgraceful attack on the selfless sacrifice of our veterans. We will not rest until this memorial is re-installed."

Funny we haven’t heard about that recently. It would be nice if we had a free press, as opposed to a Dem-controlled one.
Certainly not. The cross and the land it sits on were transferred to private hands -- that's the plan SCOTUS approved a couple weeks ago.
No doubt the wise latina is doing the happy dance now.
Too bad a rare desert thunderstorm didn’t happen to form right when these pukes were unbolting this metal cross and a stray lightning bolt just happen to strike it while they were all trying to haul it off.
After they replace the cross, I recommend that the Marines schedule random sniper training in that area. ;) At least mount some well used metal targets around the base with a sprinkling of smashed bullets laying around, just to the point across.
This is the stuff good fiction is based on. There is a story here or the beginning of a story where leftist vandals now run into all kinds of problems: haunted by dead soldiers, lightning constantly zapping at them, an old veteran in the desert who knows more than he lets on, etc. In the end they put the cross back...
interesting idea.
The spirit of Antichrist is growing in our world.
Funny.... I do not see in any of the reports on this that “an investigation is underway.” All that is offered is a “tip hotline.”
Cross destroyed and taken down the same day Kagan's nomination is announced? How convenient. I don't believe in coincidence anymore.
Well, I basically try to be a good person.
Maybe we need to start putting crosses everywhere.
I know a lot of folks who take that approach. I, personally, just realized that I couldn’t make it without a lot of help. I found that help in Jesus. I found all I need in the Comforter who is always there for me. I have had all my prayers answered, even the ones I forgot I prayed. Jesus lives, loves and waits. Most importantly He forgives and is the only one who offers that. I can do no less.
I agree, there is a time for peace and a time for war. God said so. Obama has made it now so that almost every company can be unionized and even changed the law so that if someone refuses to show up to vote, their absence will be considered a yes vote. Obama is doing what I said, he’s adding MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of Dem votes to the rolls. The Conservatives will not win in November. The election is being rigged now as we speak. He’s a criminal America and you are being steamrolled. Millions of Felons voting, 4 million Puerto Ricans voting, 12+ million illegals voting, and now millions more Union members. There is no time left to pontificate. CO
It’s in an ideal location for just that....testing ranges and military capabilities everywhere. I assure you, the military knows when it was removed, and probably has pictures.
Just another example of “tolerance” brought to you be the liberals. The simply can’t stand to see, hear, or read about anything related to Christianity. The devil must gotten to them for them to react with such aversion to Christ. Christianity is the only thing standing in the way of their agenda.
Kagan was in ‘meeting’ with Napolitano ‘till the wee hours’ working hard/soft on our behalf. Making our borders secure./s.
I like that.
1,000 feet tall.
They are having problems with that one also. Graffiti, at least it is to big to carry away.
