There's no denying the value of a college education: According to recent U.S. Census surveys, the median salary for college grads is more than $20,000 higher than that of people with only a high school diploma. And the unemployment rate for people with bachelor's degrees is almost half the rate for people without.
But some degrees are worth more than others, as PayScale.com shows in its 2010 report on the earning power of bachelor's degrees.

Maybe she can become a community organizer? I understand the job has LOTS of upward mobility :) :) :)
People don’t go into fields like Theology and Social Work to make a lot of money anyway.
Worst degree ever. Quite unpopular these days.
I didn’t see “writing for Truthout” listed. Oh wait, this for people with real degrees.
Journalism — right there with buggywhip studies.
Most probably do know what they’re doing. On the other hand, I suspect there are many like my niece that expect to live like they did at home with a nice care, an Iphone, and a trendy apartment or house. They want to save the world, but not live in Walmart style.
Wow - a double whammy - most social workers are very liberal, and Columbia is as liberal as it gets.
I have a family member doing ok with it. She is in with a group of doctors and psychiatrists. Of course, as the article (a little snidely) points out, a lot of these majors you don’t go into because you want to be rich.

Gov Christie thinks teacher is one of the highest paid and wants to limit their pay negotiations.
My Nephew is finishing up his Master’s degree in Philosophy. I think he’s gonna be flippin’ burgers!
I will never understand people that don’t check the salaries on degrees. I have a cousin that is currently taking on near six figures in student loan debt for a master’s degree in social work.

Everything you need to know about philosophy:
Plato: “To do is to be.”
Aristotle: “To be is to do.”

I’m thinking “Sports Broadcast Journalism”...
Although teaching isn’t a huge salary, the benefits and schedule are fantastic.
