The United States, Russia, Britain, France and China voiced support on Wednesday for making the Middle East a nuclear-weapons-free zone, which would ultimately force Israel to scrap any atomic arms it has.
The move, in a joint statement, reflected U.S. concern to win Arab backing for sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program by offering a concession over its ally Israel, but Washington says the zone cannot be actually established yet.
"We are committed to a full implementation of the 1995 NPT resolution on the Middle East and we support all ongoing efforts to this end," the five permanent U.N. Security Council members said in a statement issued at a conference taking stock of the 1970 nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
The 1995 resolution adopted by signatories of the landmark arms control treaty called for making the Middle East a zone without nuclear arms. The Jewish state has never confirmed or denied having nuclear arms.
"We are ready to consider all relevant proposals in the course of the (NPT) Review Conference in order to come to an agreed decision aimed at taking concrete steps in this direction," said the statement, which was obtained by Reuters.
U.S. support for the idea of creating such a zone in the future could be unwelcome to Israel, which has said it can only consider it once there is Middle East peace.

Timing is about right. The Bible is fairly clear that at the time Israel is attacked by surrounding nations (Ez 38) that she stands alone in the world. Several years ago I could not conceive how this could happen unless the rapture happened first. Thanks to Obama, I now know how this is coming about.

But the US has said it would shoot down Israeli planes if they flew over Iraqi airspace to deliver a pre-emptive smackdown on Iran.
And how many of their nukes would they actually be able to deliver even by any other route, given that we refuse to service their equipment any more? At least that was the case the last I had heard; somebody correct me if that’s changed.

And BTW, we were told that the guy in the Times Square bombing attempted to use WMD because he used dual-use items - the same sort of items which Saddam Hussein stored ready to mix and said in his records that they would argue were for agricultural use whenever the UN tried to say they had WMD’s.
All those people who laughed about “Where are the WMD’s” - and to think, every farmer in the country and all over the world has WMD’s!
How do they intend to keep anybody from having WMD’s? We aren’t even allowed to check citizenship status after a person has been caught in some other legal infraction.
No way in hell will Israel agree to this.And neither will Iran.

Actually, I correct that. The American press would do nothing with it. I know because I’ve got confirmation from the HDOH that the Factcheck COLB is a forgery and the American press won’t touch it. Not even the “conservative” press.

Israel won’t disarm. Meaningless UN resolution except it exposes Obama as a one-off President. No President before or after him will support this crap
