WASHINGTON It was a two-day trip to the Midwest to talk about jobs and clean energy. President Barack Obama didn't mention the drama unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico, where oil was gushing from a broken well pipe a mile beneath the sea.
The situation hadn't become a priority. Soon it would.
On the return to Washington aboard Air Force One, Obama learned the spill had become more worrisome. A third break was discovered at the destroyed well pipe on the ocean floor 40 miles from Louisiana's precious coastal marshes. Federal scientists believed at least 5,000 barrels of oil a day were being released five times more than original estimates.
And there was no way to stop the flow.
The Gulf region, ravaged five years earlier by Hurricane Katrina, was on the verge of a second ecological disaster. Would there be a repeat of the bureaucratic bungling that marked President George W. Bush's response to the hurricane?
While the Obama administration has faced second-guessing about the speed and effectiveness of some of its actions, a narrative pieced together by The Associated Press, based on documents, interviews and public statements, shows little resemblance to Katrina in either the characterization of the threat or the federal government's response.

The explosion was the 20th. He and Michelle were vacationing in N Carolina on the weekend of the 25th.
If it was done by a leftist, you can count on American Pravda to defend it.
Yet, they would have excoriated George Bush if he had done anything less than personally scuba dive to the well head and clamp it off with a pair of Vice-Grip pliars.
Do they have airport-security at rigs? How does anyone know there was no sabatoge? The timing is impecable. 0bama hates coal and oil. He wants to kill our energy. These two events seem to be in his favor.
The explosion was on the 20th. What day did BP admit that they had a problem and couldn’t handle the leak by itself, as it had been insisting?
How nice of them to put the narrative together on behalf of the administration. I'm sure it points out that Barack Obama has been the biggest recipient of BP monies for the past 20 years, taking over $77,000 during his career from the oil company - just like Dick Cheney and Haliburton.
Obama has yet to take any grief about either Hassan or Faisal. We wre indeed vulnerable. He's a Muslim through and through.
This whole administration is abotu "I won"...He did indeed and the people lost.
It has been established pretty conclusively that the explosion was caused by a huge bubble of methane:

There were at least four high-level BP executives on the rig at the time of the explosion. They had flown in for a celebration of their excellent safety record:

The timing be impeccable. But it was either an act of God, or negligence, as the rig workers have said from the beginning:

“Do they have airport-security at rigs?”
Geez, I hope not. I prefer to think people who operate oil rigs take security seriously.
Yahoo must believe that most Americans are yahoos.
The first week of the spill, Barry was doing private fundraisers in LA,
trashing Wall Street while Biden was on The View and then on to North Carolina for a mini vacation at a 5 Star resort.
Where he feasted on fatty and salty BBQ at the 12 Bones Smokehouse in Asheville ,
went Messin with Sasquatch in the woods and played golf on Friday and Saturday .
The only oil on his mind was the suntan lotion Reggie Love applied to his pecs and the grease on the ribs.
I am laughing so hard at the liberal spin I think I need depends.........
It appears so, not even the Yahoo members believe this crap.
