Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin's endorsement of Carly Fiorina in California's Senate race has prompted a fervent blowback on her Facebook page, long Palin's safe haven for delivering her message.
The revolt is coming from Palin supporters who also back Chuck DeVore a tea party favorite who is campaigning against Fiorina in the Republican primary.
Palins Facebook page is littered with comments opposing her endorsement of Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett Packard.
The only REAL CONSERVATIVE is Chuck DeVore. Fiorina is a RINO and we don't need any more of those in [California], one irate commenter wrote. Why wouldn't you back Chuck DeVore???
The impassioned revolt from some of her most faithful supporters prompted Palin to update her post to add a few things about my Carly endorsement because some reaction right out of the chute calls for more information.
In her original post, Palin made no mention of Fiorinas social views, but in the update Palin touted the former CEOs opposition to abortion rights.
Carly has been endorsed by the National Right to Life, the California Pro-Life Council, and the Susan B. Anthony List, Palin wrote of Fiorina. She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-military, and pro-strict border security and against amnesty.
Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, she added. Like me, she is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners. She is pro-energy development and believes as I do in an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence. She is against cap and tax. And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer.

Of course not. The mob has an agenda, as mobs do.
The agenda is to get rid of politicians who do not support smaller government and a return to the Constitutional governance.
It would make for a boring movie if the mob got to the windmill and then decided to sit down and be friends with Frankenstein's monster.
I agree that her job at HP was less than stellar but it’s unfair to say it was a disaster. I take it you’re a HP employee?
I do agree with you, not being Boxer will be the motivation a LOT of people will have. Carly is the most likely of the three repubs running that can pull off the most moderate and independant voters. Boxer will have her hands full with Carly because she won’t be able to use the standard liberal playbook and she’ll be facing someone who knows how to play the media game. As another poster pointed out, Obama is still very popular in the state so I’m sure he will focus a lot of his time/energy in CA to help Boxer hold on. This will benefit us in that the DNS will have to dedicate resources and money to keep that seat and starve other races.
Remember, perfect is the enemy of good!
Sounds like it was a bad decision. I was commenting on the implication that 20,000 people lost jobs that they were entitled to have.
This seems to be how crooked politicians work the system. They choose candidates that will go along with the status quo making you think they are your only hope against the dem candidate while the true conservative gets the shaft.
We all end up with the same crooked politicians(faces are different) we are ridding ourselves of. Quite an operation and scam.
Just say NO and vote for the conservative.
“So what advice would you give Palin?”
Stay out of these races, or endorse the true conservative, tea party aligned candidates and take our lumps together, if such occurs, as she said she would do. I wish she’d have stayed out of AZ Senate race also.
As to DeVore not succeeding, tea party endorsed candidates are not always going to be mega successful, nor perfect.
We do need to stand on principle. We can always vote for the non-tea party candidate or RINO, should they succeed in the primary. Standing with Conservatives in the primary just makes sense, they will have chances to succeed, and we also pull moderates and RINOs rightward.
This is a marathon, not a sprint - standing on fiscal and social conservative, faith and family principles.
Do not grow weary in doing what is right!
Hey, I am no Palinite....
But working with someone like Fiorina who has access to big $$$ is the shrewd political move.
“As another poster pointed out, Obama is still very popular in the state so Im sure he will focus a lot of his time/energy in CA to help Boxer hold on.”
Isn’t this just crazy? As the state heads off the fiscal reality cliff...same thing in WA State, to a somewhat smaller degree...it’s the definition of insanity.
How about her website, where she has publicly posted her positions on most conservative issues?
I agree the RINO label might be premature, but she was a campaign adviser for chief RINO McCain.
And Sarah Palin was his running mate. Does that make her a RINO?
For crying out loud, people. Labelling nearly EVERYONE a RINO makes the accusation meaningless.
Reserve the tag for those who deserve it, those who have demonstrated an actual track record of opposing lots of conservative values.
Please, PLEASE quit applying the RINO label to politicians who are 90% conservative, or who we simply don't know about yet.
If it isn't clear yet, there aren't enough 100% conservative politicians to go around! We HAVE to be willing to work at incremental improvement and supporting the MOST conservative, electable candidates instead of always demanding the impossible.
“same thing in WA State”
The Left Coast...
I treat my co-workes like family. My job depends upon not only my work, but the work of my co-workers. Now, if you want a dysfunctional 'family' where lies, backstabbing and promises are broken - you are welcome to it. I simply chose to work for a company that is honorable, tells the truth and treats their workers well. I'd much rather have a company of a tight knit group that makes slow, but steady growth; than a backstabbing company that makes an obscene profit before it explodes.
“And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer.
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah...CARLY is NOT a conservative!!!!
“For crying out loud, people. Labelling nearly EVERYONE a RINO makes the accusation meaningless.”
How about moderate, or RINO-esque? I agree there are degrees to everything - and there’s no perfect candidate (we could label everyone a “RINO” and it would be meaningless - as you suggest.)
By the way, standing with a more conservative candidate and threatening to upend the less conservative candidate will often pull that less conservative candidate rightward - especially these days, when fiscal conservatism especially is not just nice, but NECESSITY.
Thank you for your spectacular point. The goal is to defeat the Socialists in power NOT to destroy each other. A conservative that is elected in, for instance, Alabama or Kentucky doesn’t stand a hope in Hell of getting elected in the People’s Republic of California or Oregon. Endorsement for any candidate in the primary is fine and dandy but remember this is the candidate that is going to be taking on the DemocRAT challenger/incumbent usually in a statewide race. Choose who you want, but choose wisely.
The only REAL CONSERVATIVE is Chuck DeVore. Fiorina is a RINO and we don’t need any more of those in [California], one irate commenter wrote. Why wouldn’t you back Chuck DeVore???
She wouldn’t back Devore because he doesn’t have a shot in hell of winning would be my guess.
>>I take it youre a HP employee?
No, knew quite a few when I lived in Sili Valley. Heard their rants about her. I guess it colored my opinion. :)
Ok. But Fiorina has a chance of winning both the primary, and maybe the election.
Instead, you don’t mind a very liberal RINO as a senator?
Keep in mind that Fiorina’s platform is a conservative one. It is true some are a bit suspect about this, as there isn’t any record in office, but she could well be what she claims. And Palin has met her, sometimes you need to go with that personal contact in deciding about people.
Proof? Aren't you part of the mob that attacks Palin continously?
Sorry, websites are just writing on a server. I don’t take any of that at face value. Actions speak a lot louder than words, and we have nothing on which to base her (future) actions. As you yourself state.
I guess you missed the part where I said “I *agree* the RINO label might be premature” or you chose to ignore it.
Did you also miss the part where I said I would hold my nose and vote for her if I still lived in CA?
LOL. Somehow the words Palin and California don't mix too well.
