Tancredo, who argued that the film should not be distributed at all, said he wasn't worried the movie would incite any violence, but that its political message was clear.
"I think it is a true reflection of exactly who these people are and what they think about America," he said.
So they’ve decided to go for hearts and minds....
“They just f-—ed with the wrong Mexican.”
Sounds like Joe Biden and Rahm helped with the dialogue...it’s not racist, though, because it is directed at YOU!
Tancredo’s an idiot: if the movie is a reflection of truth, why would he think it shouldn’t be distributed at all?
Maybe a movie about the Gadsen Purchase is needed?
Not that I'm offended personally by the term "gringo", but imagine if the story had been about an American assassin seeking vengeance against a couple of double-crossing Latinos. Would stereotype slang (relatively mild though it is) still be acceptable for the writer to use?
I'm just sayin', y'know?
Interesting that the American-born Rodriguez regards himself as a Mexican.
Actually, I think this is a good thing.
There’s nothing like an over the top, offensive, anti-American movie like this to galvanize ordinary Americans and open their eyes as to just how serious the situation is.
So, bring it on, Rodriguez. Bring it on.
I can’t believe all the hyperbole over this law. It may have made a statement of anguish from Arizona, but it isn’t going to accomplish a thing. Perhaps it might get the Fed.s to do something more (Not anytime soon), but if you look into the bill it isn’t going to accomplish anything more than maintain the status quo. What needs to be done is continue working on a border fence like the one in Yuma all along the AZ, NM and TX Border.
It’s got Danny Trejo hacking people up with a machete, I don’t think anybody is going to be paying attention to silly stuff like dialog.
Sound like this is just a fake preview that was part of the movie “grindhouse,” with some enhancements for Arizona.
This movie has its roots long before the Arizona law passed. Machete was written by Rodriguez in the early 90s, and a fake trailer for it was part of the intermission in the 2007 double feature Grindhouse. Rodriguez had said that he wanted to develop it into a feature film at some point.
It is possible that the timing is purely coincidental (at least I hope).
Still... don’t see Clinton or Obama goons talking about this in their “we don’t want to see people get violent or this debate turn violent” in their spiels.
You know... sometimes people get comfortable in the environment they are surrounded by and forget there is a world outside that little bubble they live in. While this jerk is surrounded by maybe a 70% latino population in Arizona, parts of Texas, New Mexico and parts of California, he seems to not really realize that it is not the same demographic outside his bubble.
Moral of the story is; Don’t piss off a whole bunch of Arizona law supporting gringos. Most of us hunt for our food and are not the weenies you come across in the news media. That is NOT the kind of gringo we are in ‘fly over’ country. Got it?
Oh yeah, and Jessica Alba does not claim her latino heritage. Is this set in stone or a joke about her starring in this movie?
What immigration law?
They passed a law to stop illegal aliens. It has nothing to do with immigration.
Insanity has become the norm!
Robert Rodriguez has been working on this film for years... Did no one else see Grindhouse?
Interesting timing for the release though. Life imitating art, etc. etc.
This needs a ping for sure.
No, we are the violent ones. Not Muslims and illegal aliens criminals.
//sarc
There they go, bringing knives to gunfights again.
Jessica Alba, a border patrol agent, rallies a group of laborers while crying, “We didn’t cross the border the border crossed us!”
Tancredo, who argued that the film should not be distributed at all, said he wasn’t worried the movie would incite any violence, but that its political message was clear.
“I think it is a true reflection of exactly who these people are and what they think about America,” he said.
If I am reading this correctly— Jessica Alba should be fired for cause immediately, and prosecuted for inciting violence.
Tancredo is correct: This shows exactly what & who we are dealing with on the border.
Perhaps Tancredo can invite Eleanor Clift to a special screening. She is spouting over & over again that “these poor people are just coming to the USA for a better life & that they learn English immediately so they can sssimilate”.
Having lived in So Cal from 1964 to 1993, I know for a fact that Eleanor Clift is dead wrong & totally clueless. She needs some tutoring from Tom Tancredo.
