A plan by Senate Democratic leaders to reform the nations immigrations laws ran into strong opposition from civil liberties defenders before lawmakers even unveiled it Thursday.
Democratic leaders have proposed requiring every worker in the nation to carry a national identification card with biometric information, such as a fingerprint, within the next six years, according to a draft of the measure.

Threads on Democratic underground should be interesting.
However, the illegals, which already have demonstrated that they do not care about US law by entering the country illegally will not be slowed down in the least, because most perform "day labor" which is paid under the table, no ID neccessary.
NO I.D. CARDS. We already have plenty of ID. This about C-O-N-T-R-O-L
The illegals don’t have IDs everyone needs an ID. Most have them but allot of people don’t and if they want to be part of this system then get a drivers license or some sort of ID Now if they want me to get an ID with a CCW,Drivers License,Ham License,Fishing License then I would say control.?
You got it:
Papers please has been the MSNBC cry for two weeks equating Arizona tos Nazi Germany. But its Ok for the Federal government to do it now according to democrats.
We do not want the federal government , Obama or GWB or congress being able to punish us by taking away our work papers. This would be like making everyone legal(amnesty) , US citizen or not, carry a Green Card.
Only Republicans can be Nazis. DON'T YOU GET THAT????
Dems spark alarm with call for national ID card
YET, the progressives will STILL insist that one does not need an ID to vote.
>> well then comrade, you would not be able to qualify for your...
If it comes to that, I just might be spending the brief rest of my life living in the woods, eating lizards and tree bark, and venturing into town now and then to shoot nazis.
I’m sure I won’t live long enough to notice the pinch of the government yoke.
And just how would one obtain such a card...by showing proof of identity such as a BIRTH CERTIFICATE???????????
Arg. We need to kill that post.
This is the problem. How can you identify illegals if you don’t require the legal citizens to have identification? I know that there are problems with national IDâs, but at the heart of the Arizona debate was a fundamental logical problem. The democrats claimed that legal citizens would be harassed if the police started cracking down on legal citizens, but you cannot separate anything, white marbles from black, wheat from chaff, legals from illegals, unless you examine the whole lot, and make the proper selections. But to do this, you need a way to properly verify the legals.
Unfortunately I do. I been watching that train wreck of nightly race baiting over at MSNBC.
Some of them at MSNBC think trying to pass this amnesty bill right now with 10% unemployment would be a winner for democrats. Rush has this one nailed, it is suicide for them to try it.
Trapped by their own lies.
These libs are total snakes talking out of both sides of their fanged jaws.
Of course they want an ID card! It goes with national HELLthcontrol and a data base of eveything about a person.
Big Brother is the “Freedom Lovin’ LEfT”!!!!
Did anyone run this by Shakira?
Here, here’s the irony that’ll make you laugh and cry at the same time:
They want a national ID card, but wouldn’t, guaranteed, want it to be used to verify the identity of a voter.
I’m wondering why no one is bringing up the new FED drivers license requirements that have lead to my state requiring passport or birth certificate to renew drivers license, and if the name has changed since that document was made, the name change has to also be verified by official document, like marriage license.
Uh, we already have one. Its called a social security card and a passport.
Getting a drivers license required an across town trip with $30 to the county records division where I had to get a state approved copy of my birth certificate. The copy i had didn't suit them.
The lad there put in my city of birth, year of birth, my mothers name, my fathers name and I walked out of the office with someone else's birth certificate. I did return the document as I needed the correct one to be allowed to drive on the roadways.
