Playing The Puerto Rico Card
Investors.com ^ | April 29, 2010 | INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY Staff

Politics: Faced with losing Congress, the Democrats want to make Puerto Rico a state whether the people want it or not. The Democrats would get two new senators, new congressmen and a campaign issue.

Throw in voting representation for D.C., amnesty for illegals and voting for felons, all items on the Democrats' agenda, and in their cookbook you have a recipe for Democratic majorities as far as the eye can see. It's a plan to retain control at all costs and counteract a Tea Party movement that threatens to throw their big-government liberalism on the ash heap of political history.

You also have the added bonus of energizing Hispanic activists all too eager with administration help to paint the GOP as racists, particularly in the light of the new Arizona law that does nothing but say that since the feds dropped the ball on border security, Arizona will pick it up and run with it.

It’s truly astounding 60 members of the OP(formerly the GOP) cosponsored this bill. Can someone please remind me why anyone insists on remaining with the OP?

Didn’t Puerto Rico just elect a Republican governor?

How let´s ask them how much they can help pay off the National Debt, if they are LOADED $$...maybe they can save us. If they are broke, we´re done. Might as well ask Haiti to become State 52..enough States, and we´ll probably FLOAT..something else I know floats.

The Democrats play to win,and don’t mind playing dirty;the GOP doesn’t act as though they even care who wins.

PR should be forced to be a State. They have been getting a free ride for too long.

We have a two party system: the Evil Party and the Stupid Party.

The Democrats are constantly reminding us that they are the evil party. The Republicans from time to time want to remind us that they are the stupid party.

The Republicans from time to time continually want to remind us voters that they are supporters of the One Party System, the Democrat Socialistic System, of course.

I am convinced that the Republican legislators cannot stand winning and have no idea what to do when you have won. They will not repeal the Healthcare Bill if they should win in November contrary to what a couple of foolish people are saying.

PR has a large nationalist segment of the population (former FALN supporters) who I don’t think will sit still if statism is foisted on the them.

True enough. There is a part of me which thinks that Obama’s overall goal to create social, political, and economic chaos - just from looking at his actions, that seems to be a reasonable presumption. If that is so, then the end game is far too horrible to contemplate.

The race card may be somewhat effective, but not as much as it used to be. If anything, it is making those being labeled racists more annoyed and determined to take out the Socialist trash on Election Day.

The Democrats play to win,and don’t mind playing dirty;the GOP doesn’t act as though they even care who wins.

What many are missing is that the progressive end game isn't just more senators and power but the dissolution of the constitution and permanent power. The progressives are trying to crash the system ala the Cloward and Piven strategy.

The PNP (Statehood Party) has members who Caucus with both the Dems and the GOP. Luis Fortuno caucused with the GOP when he was resident commissioner, but supports Obama Care. Let’s not forget that the Dem primary on Puerto Rico attracted 380,000 voters, wheras the GOP contest only attracted less then 5,000.

PR should be forced to be a State. They have been getting a free ride for too long.

And being that the MEDIAN income is $17,000 (ie half the population makes LESS than that figure), very few will get hit with the income tax. We will STILL be subsidizing our Third World, Spanish-speaking "brothers."
