Who will do my work if all the Mexicanos go back to Mexico, or immigrate to San Fransisco???
When I was a kid in the 1950's the gardeners were almost all Japanese......ours was named "George", but since he didn't speak a word of English, I highly doubt that was his real name.
He wore a funny cap, which I recognized down the line when TV started to show Japanese soldiers in World War II.
Good for you, I’m glad you verified his citizenship prior to hiring him.
My neighbor across the street hires Mexicans, don’t know if they are illegal, but just in case she may need some help..one reason We are preparing our boy, plus alot of people in our neighborhood work long hours..and may want the help, but the main reason is he needs and wants some responsibility.
Well, if a kid has a choice to go to jail or mow your yard, you pretty much know he should be in jail, right?
...sounds more like a squirrel invasion. We get ‘em shaking citrus out of the trees; I’ve seen ‘em run off with grapefruit.
Richmond, VA
“Around here the best football player loads hay with his father and does ranch work”
...which is why he’s the best football player. Probably says “no ma’am”, “yes sir” and “pardon me” too.
You’re right, and I love that show, and I can’t remember ever seeing one illegal on it.
And the money we'll save on gym memberships?
Not to mention we will be too tired to get into trouble!
You should tell those IT guys to head for Tidewater or DC area. If they can get a clearance, there’s always work.
Did you know there is a really dumb law in NYS that prevents teens from getting yard work, deli work, etc?
Those under 18 years are not permitted to use any “dangerous” equipment, like lawn mowers, weed-whackers, cold cut slicers, and so on.
You would be out of luck now, truthguy, if you lived in NYS and were just a kid.
I’m have my very own illegal alien gardener and lawn and hedge trimmer. It’s me. I do it myself and pay myself illegal alien peon wages. It’s all good.
Don't know about Albie, but I'm in Virginia, and when my disabled neighbor needed yard help, he put an ad on craigslist offering $8 an hour and had to take it down before noon because his phone was ringing off the hook with people begging to work for him for that.
“Root hog, or die” is a common American catch-phrase dating from well before 1834.[1] Coming from the early colonial practice of turning pigs loose in the woods to fend for themselves, the term is an idiomatic expression for self-reliance
****** from wikipedia
“Someone that will charge a lot more, and want health insurance.”
The same person as now, after amnesty.
It’s not specifically IT guys but I’m seeing more professionals working in blue collar now. Two blocks away from where I live is a guy who was in engineering at Quimonda when they closed 14 months ago and now he’s laying mulch for the neighborhood while he’s looking.
It’s admirable and I like supporting anyone in a situation like that. Nothing wrong with getting dirty.
The guy across the street sent his teens over to help with our yardwork once. He said not to even worry about paying them because they owed him so much money.
Not at all.
Then, no change.
