Arizona Governor Jan Brewer last week signed a new law into effect that authorizes local police to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 60% of voters nationwide favor such a law, while 31% are opposed.
Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Republicans support the law along with 62% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Democratic voters are evenly divided on the measure.
At the same time, however, 58% of all voters are at least somewhat concerned that efforts to identify and deport illegal immigrants will also end up violating the civil rights of some U.S. citizens. That figure includes 29% who are Very Concerned about possible civil rights violations.....

I'm okay with that. The more the socialists focus on something other than jobs, the better for real Americans in November.
He needs to answer the question “What are you going to do about the border?” If he has no answer, then the States need to do something. We don’t need any more studies either...........fix it and do it now.
My husband says that we should send Obama to Arizona and let them verify his proof of citizenship. LOL!
ROFL!!!!!!
Well, I’m sure the lamestream big media regime will be sure to rush this news to print and the airwaves . . . NOT!
60%!? Big deal! 60% voted for one man, one woman in CA. They shot it down. 60% didn’t approve of healthcare. They passed it. It just doesn’t matter to these “people”. November is all they’re going to understand.
Good one!!!
this will have a knock on effect and the rats knwo it
the illegals will leave AZ and move into NM,CO etc where those populations will get pissed off with the illegals and demand that their Gov do something like AZ of which we know the rats won’t.
Then those state will turn blue and a big loss of the rats on election day.
her’;es a word for the far left to look up
ILLEGAL so when those protesting are holding signs saying illegal here then guess what d not moan when you get arrested as you have had the laws ignored for far too long.
As I came here legally then I must be a racist too
ARF
How would this law work? I am a citizen and have a driver’s license. If a cop stops me for running a stop sign, does that mean he demand proof of citizenship for me and everyone in my car? Is that really what people want?
I heard some politician bashing this law saying that police would use flimsy excuses such as “lack of English” to check immigration status, as if that were racial profiling. Anyone who is LEGALLY in this country should be able to speak basic English to a policeman if stopped. Why wouldn’t this be a big red flag? And you know what? If you’re stopped, and you’re legal, the nice policeman will apologize and let you go on your way.
And 60% will vote against EMOrats in Nov. and that won’t matter either.
The case is going to take years to wind it's way through the courts, if 0bozo and his Marxist Attorney General Holder decide to challenge it in court.
Meanwhile, the negative publicity while the case is being tried and the anger that will generate amongst the 60% of Americans who support the Arizona law, will give 0bozo and the Democrat's falling poll numbers. 2012 elections are going to be about repealing 0bamcare and maintaining immigration enforcement. That's a lose, lose for 0bozo and the Democrats.
Fine by me.
I’m not sure if I agree with this. Stopping people in their cars to check for citizenship opens up a whole can of worms for abusing 4th amendment rights. Just imagine that a cop stops someone who turns out to be a lawful citizen, then oops, I see a gun in that car. Do you have a conceal carry license?
The answer is to enforce the existing immigration laws on the books. To go after the employers with fines and stiff penalties when illegal workers are found at their workplaces. And to deport the illegals from there. No available work for illegal immigrants, no illegal immigrants.
Hush up, they won’t ask us for our papers, we look like Americans.
Just wait until the price of childcare, cleaning, construction, restaurants and lawn care goes through the roof.
If you have a license, you would just get a ticket like usual. There would only be a problem, if you left your wallet at home, and then you would only have to convince him that you were legal, or the judge later.
My support or opposition depends strongly on what constitutes the probable cause for this stop.
You don't need a concealed carry license to carry a gun unconcealed. But I tend to agree with your point, if that's what this law does.
Ping!
