Yid With Lid: He was giving the key note speech at a Washington Institute For Near East Policy and started it out with a "joke" that borders on anti-Semitic, teaching the crowd that Jews are just greedy merchants in the same vein as Shakespeare's Shylock...

I agree, it is juust as bad as the horrendous practice of blood libel against the Jews.
I grew up on ethnic jokes. We all made them or laughed about every group there was, including our own. Political correctness has made that a no-no. PC has, in fact, made having a sense of humor a no-no.
As you point out, there are incredibly serious issues to worry about; getting one’s panties in a knot over this is ridiculous.
It would be good to get a running transcript of the jokes told in the White House about racist white men that cling to guns and bibles.
People need to get real!! If this joke is offensive, then a joke should never be told again. People need to stop walking on eggshells!!! General Jones is one of the good guys. I believe the only reason he is serving as National Security Advisor is because he is a great American who was called once again to serve his country and is answering the call. You know, we could do a lot worse. Would you rather have Wesley Clarke running the show?
Cut Gen Jones some slack. He’s done nothing to discredit himself since becoming National Security advisor and has a long and distinguished career serving our country. Were people ripping on him when he was Commandant of the Marine Corps and Supreme Allied commander in Europe during GW’s time in office?

For the record, as an American of Irish descent. If anyone wants to tell an Irish joke depicting us as drunks, brawlers or bomb throwers I’m all ears. I like a good joke and don’t walk on egg shells about it.
Good, bad, or mediocre, some people in some settings should keep some jokes to themselves.
Telling ethnic jokes in public is no longer an acceptable form of behavior - especially someone in a Democrat Administration, as they are so fond of pouncing on Conservatives for doing this in a private forum.
Given Obama’s anti-Israeli record and his associations with known anit-Semites like the “REVEREND” Wright, make this particularly unaceptable.
Neither the Taliban nor Obama’s treatment of Israel are “funny” subjects - and he should have known better and he should pay the same price that would have been paid had a Republican appointee made such a poor judgment.

This joke has to be taken in context of the absolute rules of political correctness the ADL, and other leftist/fascist groups impose on Americans. It is absolutely taboo to make jokes about Jewish people.
White men are not allowed to make jokes about ethnic or religious people unless it is to stereotype whites as inately racist and Christians as dangerous apes and monkeys.
Here’s a white man making a joke about Jewish manipulation of the goy and greed. It is shocking that he would do that living in American society. He’s feeling powerful Jews either agree with him or he’s feeling like Jews have no power to impose political correctness upon him.
When feminists lost the power to persecute heterosexual white men for flirting or acting normally with women due to Clinton’s womanizing, the lid came off feminist political correctness/oppression. We went from total sexual control manipulation and oppression to absolute homosexual porn and Ho society which is now protected by political correctness.
In this light, since Obama has made clear that the Israel are not a US ally anymore, it looks like Jews no longer have the power of imposing political correctness. Leftists will shape what becomes acceptable to do and say about Jews. The ADL is only useful to the Left as an “enemy of my enemy” in their never ending slander, hatred and persecution of American Christians.
The ADL, trying to score points with the Left, just announced Obama should arrest uppity white Christians who are protesting against Marxim. They best be careful what they wish for. If dear leaders starts rounding up “dangerous” religious people, it is likely to be Jews. In my studies of diversity race doctrines, the common ground in all the tribal hate doctrines is for Jews. I think it is coming to fruitation.
Seen in this light, this “joke” signals a big change for Jews in America.

This joke is disturbing because of who is telling it and also because of the subtle messages contained. He refers to the Taliban guy in the joke as a “militant” and “warrior.” Why are these positive modifiers used for the killer and a Jew used as the butt of the joke?
If the joke had been set in some neutral setting like the American desert it might have had a chance at being funny. But you cannot get around the insult of implying that a race of people would try to profit from someone’s starving for water.
My dad's best friends were Jewish, Polish and Italian (My dad was a Scot). When they would get together the ethnic jokes would just fly, with each trying to one-up the others. They had a great time and loved each other and there was always a ton of laughter when they got together. You can't do that today.
