An Arizona state bill that would give law enforcement greater authority over arresting illegal immigrants has caused national uproar and could set the stage for court battles over how far states can go when it comes to immigration policies.
The bill would it make it a crime for immigrants to have no alien registration document, and undocumented citizens would be charged with "trespassing" simply for being in Arizona. The bill allows police to question and arrest people without warrant if there is "reasonable suspicion" about their immigration status. It would become illegal for people to employ illegal immigrants or to transport them anywhere in the state, even if they are family members.
Critics of the bill charge that it essentially legalizes racial profiling, which will lead to an uptick in hate crimes.
"It is literally designed to make life so unbearable for undocumented immigrants that they leave the state," said Frank Sharry, founder and director of America's Voice, w

And it is done easily:
AZ Senator: Mr. Sherry, how many members does VoA claim and how many are citizens of Arizona?
Sherry: [Makes up a number]
Senator: Would you say that that number constitutes a plurality or even a majority of the people of Arizona?
Sherry: No.
Senator: Would you say that the Arizona legislature comprises representation for a plurality of the citizens of Arizona?
Sherry: Yes
Senator: No further questions Mr. Chairman.

And, this is why I am against it. My wife is Chinese. She LOOKS Chinese. But she is now an American citizen. Perhaps in Arizona, she wouldn’t be stopped and asked to prove her existence. Someone who looks Mexican, would probably be “stopped”. I am fine with this ONLY if they also consistently stop someone who looks African, or Swedish or whatever.

You’ll likely get your wish. The amnesty bill Graham/Schumer are pushing calls for a biometric ID card for EVERYONE to be able to get a job. That means you, your wife, all of us.
Either you profile them and enforce the law or we all get the police state. Is that what you want??
I have to prove who I am every time I do anything but you’re afraid someone who shouldn’t be here in the first place might have to??
They do at BP checkpoints here in So Cal an Az.
Everyone gets stopped and checked.
Sounds like ABC has its panties in a wad again. Everything is racial profiling to these asshats, when in fact we are talking about legal certification of residency. Kind of like the certification for the Presidency, oh yeah, I forgot, we don’t do that anymore. Okay, everyone is a racist.
So asking people who are clearly Mexicans if they’re in the country illegally is “racial profiling.” Apparently looking for a black murder suspect after the victims friend identified the shooter as black would ALSO be racial profiling??!!

If I were caught in the interior of Mexico, without a valid tourist our work visa, I could be arrested by a cop, an army soldier, a customs puke or even a godda%n meter maid!!!
I would then be arrested and frog marched straight to jail.
NO AUTOMATIC RETURN TO THE US!! Mexican illegals here get sent straight back to Mexico over and over.
My relatives would likely then get a call requesting “bail” funds of 10K be sent to obtain my release.
The hypocrisy of the “Mexican Government” complaining about abuse of their citizens in the US is sickening.
If they are here without proper papers——THEY ARE TRESPASSING !!! This is beyond simple, IMO.
How looney can the left be?
How about these same illegals break into a home of this writer?
Will that be OK?
It is literally designed to make life so unbearable for undocumented immigrants that they leave the state....
I guess it works...

NUEVO LAREDO, Mexico (Reuters) - Illegal immigrants from Latin America are heading deeper into the United States to find work and avoid deportation as crackdowns in border states like Texas and Arizona make life more difficult for them.

Why is racial profiling wrong when economic profiling
is the law of the land and all are subject to it?
The only thing White Americans can do that isn’t racist is to surrender their land, history, wealth, property, children, and vital organs to the third world.
Now that we’re at that point, ok you got me, I’m a racist.
You want consistency, get a loaf of bread.
Many areas have been bending over backward for illegals. Illegals have been able to drive without a driver’s license, no insurance, and have been cut breaks that citizens are not- simply because it was not PC to “bother illegals.” Maricopa County Arizona actually had a special DUI/DWI court set up for minorities a few years ago where the penalties and fines were no where near as harsh as they were for others.
I think this law is simply a correction- sending a message to LEO that people are not above the law simply because they are here illegally. Arizona is finally fed up with illegals taking over their jobs, overwhelming social services, and bankrupting their state.
Just wondering, is there a law that makes “racial profiling” illegal? Because there ARE laws that make it illegal to be in this country without proper authorization and documents.
Yes.
A fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States is equal protection under the law. Along with this right to equal protection is the fundamental right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures by government agents as guaranteed by the Fourth Amendment.
That is just a bad law. It invites the state to issue an I.D. card to everyone and demand proof of some status for only the mere suspicion on the part of the Policeman.
Local news here is reporting a bus load of protesters from L.A. on the way.
Be int resting to see the make up of the protesters.
I bet the organizers profiled to fill the bus.
Just as we need to when driving a car.
Buying beer or cigs.
Buying or renting a home.
Getting a hotel room.
or even getting a kid into little league.
