Summary
Obama is a liar. Pure and simple. I know some of you are offended to hear him called a liar, but he is. He is also a coward for not facing the people whose hopes and dreams for our Human Space Flight Program are being destroyed by this man and his accomplices in Congress and NASA.
There is no new Human Space Flight Program. There is just a poorly written Powerpoint, lacking in specifics or even a name, posted on Obama’s teleprompter. No ship, no hardware, no employees, nothing but crap.
There is no destination, no idea what NASA is really going to do with Human Space Flight besides just give it up. Even his promise of jobs is a lie. He will throw some money towards KSC to hire a few folks to slap on a few new coats of paint on the buildings, and after the 2012 election, lay them all off and close KSC pretty much for good and our entire Human Space Flight Program.
Though Obama was able to get one doddering 80-year-old astronaut to back him, he could not get the other astronauts that were free to speak or the thousands of rank and file aerospace workers to back him. They know what his plan truly is, to end America’s Human Space Flight Program after 50 years of leadership.

It has all the qualities of the exceptional American spirit - exploration, innovation, pioneering, courage, furthering the human condition, etc, etc.
Much in the same way JFK used the space program to rally American to the greatness of America to be the first to the moon, the next Republican nominee can contrast and American vision against the lack thereof from Obama.

The one that explores space, inspires children to learn, puts the American flag on the moon and builds space stations and launches the rockets no other nation can and makes America second to none.

There was a story out about how obama was going to change NASA’s mission to one of outreach to the muslim countries. His press dropped that one very fast.
I tend to believe that is his real goal. Loot the NASA money to give to his homeys.

Figures Zero would kill NASA. It's one of the few government agencies that accomplished its mission. I still believe in the dream of living offworld because of the potential freedom it offers and is a good way of ensuring human survival in case of the unthinkable.
I'm wondering how seriously the author takes THIS statement of his. THIS is one of MY biggest concerns - who's going to MAKE the Russians bring back ANY of our astronauts if they choose not to??? I, for one, would NEVER EVER depend on the Russians to bring me back - wonder how many future astronauts will. Wonder how many future astronauts we will have because of this.

The federal government will never go for offworld living. Look at what happened when England set up colonies in the New World and the settlers got uppity about paying taxes to the crown for services not received?
