The latest edition of a prestigious medical journal, The Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, has published a very disturbing piece of research. While the study is very small, the fact that it was done at all suggests that there might be a larger problem across the country: Euthanizing children right here in the US.
The study, of course, doesnt talk about euthanasia. Heres the title: Considerations About Hastening Death Among Parents of Children Who Die of Cancer.
I see. Its not euthanasia, its hastening death. Sounds so much more, well, clinical, dont you think?
Essentially, the researchers wanted to know, in terms of actual cases and presented possible scenarios, what parents attitudes were toward euthanasia when a child was terminally ill with cancer. No surprise, the more the actual case or scenario involved high levels of pain and suffering, the more likely parents were to consider euthanasia
Sorry, I meant hastening death.
Now, if the study only used contrived scenarios, the findings would be important, because they show, among other things, that parents are ignorant of palliative measures that can make terminally ill children comfortable in their final days.
However, among parents interviewed who literally had terminally ill children with cancer, there were several who actually discussed euthanasia for their child with their doctor, and, in three instances, where parents reported that the euthanasia was carried out.
Frightening, and even more so when you consider how small the study was.
And, its absolutely probable that if its happening in the two hospitals covered by the study, its going on all over the country behind closed doors after whispered conversations.
Killing children because they are sick.
Here in these United States.
This is how things started in the Netherlands.
Lets so all we can to make sure it doesnt happen here.
“...the “worthless eaters” “.
Careful! There are more than a few folks here on FR who would describe that as covering most immigrants on welfare.
this is horrible.
’ I wonder how long it will be before Zero and his czars start denouncing the “worthless eaters” ‘.
Well... speaking of czars, and the current regime, I would say that they are the epitome of ‘worthless’ from a human productivity, usefulness, perspective.
I find this hard to believe.
This is being reported by the parents to the researchers. Parents are not medical personnel.
The conversation was probably like this( and I have witnessed this)- “Your child is terminal- and will probably die in the next two days. In order to make your child comfortable, we will need to give morphine. Sometimes large doses of morphine can stop breathing, but your child needs the morphine to be comfortable.”
The parents then interpret this as euthanasia. Not true.
That is not true. Palliative measures can be given in doses that do not kill. Euthansia is purposely giving doses of whatever or large enough to kill. People who are dying can be given palliative care for considerble periods of time.
Why are you saying something that is not true?
I don’t want immigrants on welfare to be killed. I just want them to not be on welfare, and to leave the country if they are illegal.
That wasn’t a nice thing to say, btw.
Thanks for the LMSD/Laptop info. Here’s a ping for you too. I’m actually pretty upset over even the thought of people bringing this up.
Prayers for all these children.
In some cases it is true. The tolerance for morphine becomes greater and greater, and larger and larger doses must be used to eliminate the pain.
I know that; but still, there is a difference between purposely giving a dose that kills and giving enough to ease pain. There is intent involved. And when the intent is to kill, that is when it all becomes evil.
Agree.
And the danger with legalizing euthanasia or even turning a blind eyes is this:
“Well, he’s supposed to live for another two days/two weeks/two months/two years but he’s in such pain, he’ll never be cured, it’s really the kind thing to do...plus, our insurance is running out, and I can’t possibly give him the care at home, and... and... And the doctor said it won’t hurt, he’ll just go to sleep and not wake up...”
I can see it and hear it now.
Of course with some fatal illnesses, pain is not the problem.
In bygone days the morphine dose would be regulated so it did not kill the patient. That was barbaric. When we can ease the pain, we should, and I'm glad we now do so.
What I’m saying is that if euthanasia or call it doctor assisted suicide (kids can now ask to be killed in, IIRC, Belgium), this sort of discussion will occur earlier in the illness. Not when the child is in unbearable pain, totally helpless, or unconscious. Much earlier. When large doses of pain killing drugs are not needed “yet”.
“Why wait until he’s in terrible pain? It would be so cruel to wait until then. Let’s remember him as he is now; the doctor said he would get all twisted/go blind/stop eating - and I couldn’t bear to see him like that. It’s the kind thing to do. The doctor said he’ll feel no pain, just go to sleep. We know there’s no hope, why wait until he suffers so much more?”
It won’t just happen when the children are near death, if it’s legalized.
“That wasnt a nice thing to say, btw.”
I certainly agree is isn’t a nice thing to say. But I’ve read worse on some threads on FR and I’ve been posting here for a few years.
Those nasty comments I skip, as not everyone who is an immigrant is here illegally and quite a few are political refugees, like the Cambodians, and have needed help assimilating.
It was still shocking to read that 50% of all people on welfare are immigrants.
At one time immigrants could not enter the U.S.A. unless they had a sponsor, but that no longer appears to be the case. If the law still exists, we must need dust it off and start enforcing our immigration laws.
Reform is just a way to seem busy making progress while nothing really changes.
Maybe I misunderstood your other comment. I thought you were saying that many people on FR thought that immigrants (in general) were uesless eaters with all that that implies.
If I was wrong, I apologize.
I see tons of stuff on FR that makes me sick, for sure - from ignorance to much worse. I generally skip it, too, unless I want to try to defeat it.
My DH is a legal immigrant - took him a year just to get here, is now naturalized. He came when immigrants had to have sponsors. So I have nothing against legal immigrants! Just no illegals, and no welfare. Private orgs should help them, and other needy people.
We have just experienced yet another ....

The most disturbing aspect of this rising evil is that We The People have not marched these murderous bastards out of any power, any authority over U.S.! By tolerating this EVIL we become complicit in it.
Yes, it is disturbing that the question is even being asked.
