Pelosi: Two 'pillars' down, one more to go in passing Obama 'blueprint' By Sean J. Miller - 04/17/10 06:51 PM ET

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) said the Democrats are one bill away from completing President Barack Obama’s “blueprint for American prosperity.”

“We have passed two of the three pillars in the historic healthcare and education reform and are working towards a clean energy and climate agenda in Congress,” Pelosi said in her remarks to the California Democratic Party state convention in Los Angeles on Saturday. “And essential to prosperity for middle-income Americans is reining in Wall Street.”

“The House has passed Wall Street reform, and working with our colleagues in the Senate, we will ensure that never again will those who are reckless on Wall Street make people jobless on Main Street,” she said.

During her speech, Pelosi singled out several members of the California delegation who were in attendance. “We must reelect and retain the extraordinary leadership of my colleagues in Congress who are here today,” she said.

After returning from the spring recess, House Dems moved into a light schedule with short weeks and relatively easy votes over the next seven weeks to smooth the way for campaign season.

And just hours before completing work for 2009, Pelosi summoned reporters to her office and declared that she was "in campaign mode."

Prosper? Who’s going to prosper with higher taxes and energy cost?

I never pegged Pelosi for a Communist ideologue before she became Speaker.

But she is.

The whole regime is.

Democrats are the enemy of freedom. Of this, there is no longer any doubt.

3 million jobs lost since Hussein took office, that is Nazi’s definition of prosperity.

“College financing now a government program only...I suppose that’s what she’s yakking about.”

No, it was in the porkulus bill I think, money to the states to participate. I can’t remember exactly it’s challenge to the top, or race to the top, or some such nonsense.

Unfortunately I believe San Fran Nan is in a safe district—that’s why she can blow off at the mouth without worrying about consequences. Too many politicians are gerrymandered into safe districts. That’s why they aren’t going to change.

I realize that’s the plan for the future, but for Pelosi to refer to it as education reform NOW is either stupid or silly.

Let’s see, IIRC the three pillars of Zen are supposed to be (three constituent elements of) teaching, practice, and enlightenment. Cap and Tax is far from enlightenment. More like disenlightenment.

Agree .. Obama’s “bluprint” is not for prosperity .. IT’S FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR NATION.

AND .. IT’S ON PURPOSE .. AND YOU CANNOT HAVE TYRANNY UNTIL YOU DESTROY THE MIDDLE CLASS - you and me.

This administration is really scary. They have a plan to destroy this country and we may end up having to do more than protest in the streets and vote on November 2nd.

My worst nightmare is an attack upon our country .. an attack so bad that Obama immediately declares martial law - and SUSPENDS ELECTIONS.

I’m even afraid to think about what might happen next.

They are enacting their agenda. For better or worse, people respond positively to leaders who get things done. They scapegoat to win public support: insurance companies for healthcare, "deniers" and dirty coal for cap and trade and Wall Street for further financial regulation. Never mind that the new healthcare is a disaster about to unfold, that global warming is a myth and that lending money to NINJAs for political reasons caused the credit crisis, not Wall Street, I see a strong possibility that the public will eventually be won over by this socialist decisiveness. "At least they're doing something." Our hope is that a Republican president with a filibuster-proof majority "repeals and replaces" all of this in 2013, three years from now. That will be a daunting political task even if all the cards fall into place. It is easy for politicians to say they are going to do this. It will be a different equation in 2013, with an entirely new set of vested interests.

I don't have confidence that current public opinion is going to hold until November, much less until November 2012. Unless ... current Republican leaders can stop the majority of this proposed legislation. It will require determined horse-trading on a host of issues to hold their votes together on cap and trade, financial regulation and immigration. They need to become the party of NO now, not next year. Currently they seem more interested in getting re-elected than in curtailing the socialization of America. They should take a cue from the Democrats: strength and decisiveness is appreciated and rewarded. Stopping these bills is the key to victory in November, not a handicap.

The Republicans will be deservedly deserted by its base if they hand their country to socialism just because the Democrats won one electoral cycle. They should start by replacing Steele, pronto.
