While ACORN has earned much of the scorn of the press and public in recent months, its voter registration arm, Project Vote, is actually the entity that has been conducting the questionable voter registration drives.
Project Vote has been accused of voter registrations fraud in more than a dozen states. Its parent group ACORN, along with a staff member, are scheduled to be tried for fraud in Nevada in a matter of days. Recently, ACORN was nailed under the RICO Act in Ohio and ordered to never come back to the state. More importantly, the settlement also said ACORN couldnt simply morph into another organization and cause the same type of trouble in Ohio.
In short, Project Vote is at the root of ACORNs voter registration fraud problems.
The strategy put forward by Piven and Richard Cloward, to overwhelm the welfare system in the late 60s and early 70s, bankrupted New York City.
It was Piven who suggested that people losing their homes to foreclosure should simply refuse to leave. ACORN had been following this strategy to a T with its Home Defenders program.
And now Piven is going to have a direct influence over the policy and direction of Project Vote.
With Piven now guiding this ship, her success at overwhelming the welfare system will now be applied to voter registration. What could possibly go wrong?

I don’t care if it is the parent company or the subsidiary——They are all crooks.
No subsidiary does something wrong over & over & over again without approval from on high.
PERIOD.

Combine this with what is happening here in WI.
VOTER FRAUD BILLS SCHEDULED FOR VOTE THIS TUESDAY APRIL 20, 2010. CALL LEGISLATORS AND OPPOSE THESE BILLS!!!
VOTER REGISTRATION ELECTION REFORM BILL
Senate Bill (SB) 640 and Assembly Bill (AB) 895
As you may know, Democrats in the State Legislature recently introduced a major package of voter registration election law changes. The changes were given quick committee hearings and votes. Now, as public input on the proposed changes has turned overwhelmingly negative, the State Assembly plans to push them for a on vote Tuesday, April 20th. Among other things, SB 640 and AB 895 propose to:
- Automatic Voter Registration Require the state Government Accountability Board (GAB) to automatically add ALL eligible state residents to the states voter registration list. Information would be obtained from various state government databases, including those used by the departments of health services, children and families, workforce development, revenue, regulation and licensing, transportation and natural resources. Over time, all state residents would be added to the states voter rolls even if the individual never registered to vote.
- Federal MOVE Act Implement the federal Military Overseas Voting Empowerment Act that seeks to make it easier for overseas military personnel to vote or register to vote.
- Challenging Ballots In municipalities with a population over 2,500, require that individuals challenging the integrity of a ballot cast in an election be a resident of the same ward or election district in which that ballot was cast.
- Early Voting Create an early voting system that would allow for early voting to start on the third Thursday before an election and continue until the day before the election. Voting could take place for a couple of weeks under this plan.
- Use of Campus Dormitory Lists for Voter Registration Require local clerks and election officials to accept campus dormitory lists as official qualified voter lists.
- Permanent Absentee Ballots Require a system whereby an absentee ballot be sent to an elector automatically for every succeeding election until the elector fails to return the absentee ballots mailed to the elector for two consecutive elections.
- Record-Matching with Private Groups Allow GAB to enter into an agreement with any nationally focused nonprofit organization to enable matching of information in the records of that organization with publicly available information in GAB records to facilitate administration of elector registration by GAB. The agreement may also enable matching of information in the GAB records that GAB obtained from DOT.(NOTE: DURING THE HEARING THE CHAIRMAN WAS ASKED IF SUCH A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WOULD INCLUDE ACORN AND WAS TOLD IT DID!"
- Internet Voter Registration The current version of the bill contains new provisions for an online voter registration system administered by GAB.
Again, the State Assembly leadership plans to push for a vote on these changes on Tuesday. And no Voter ID. We are so screwed :(

Perhaps Ms Piven should be accorded only the medical care that Ogabecare provides. She is getting on in years and may need cancer surgery. In such a case, give her palliatives and send her home. She who lives by the sword....

Actually, the repubs DID defund ACORN, but Obama fixed it.
I wish I could cite the details, but I remember it being posted here that Obama had stopped the defunding.
So if we’re going to “remember this” .. it’s best we remember who the real culprit is.

How likely is it that these measures will pass in WI? Where are the local Tea Parties - are they pretty vocal and active, in front on this?

How likely is it that these measures will pass in WI? Where are the local Tea Parties - are they pretty vocal and active, in front on this? We have a Dem Assembly, Dem State Senate and Dem Gov. It will pass. A lot of these dems see it as the only way they can stay in office.
And the fraud? The Milwaukee Police Chief said he can't even begin to investigate the 1000's of cases from the 2008 elections, because he doesn't have enough resources. So he won't investigate any and the local news says, "See there is no vote fraud because no one is being charged."
The local Tea Parties and Conservative talk are screaming but the dems will pass it anyway because they can and it will tighten their grip. I wish it would get some National attention but my emails to Rush, Hanity etc have so far accomplished zilch. Maybe they will mention it on Wed....after it passes.
I just can't believe that they are going to register everyone in the state and then give the voter rolls to ACORN to sort out. The 2008 election was a joke here in WI. I will now have to look back on that election as being the last "semi-legit" election that I will ever see during my lifetime.

Well .. if you “know that”, then why are you blaming the repubs for not defunding it ..?? when it was Obama who stopped the defunding.
Sorry .. I don’t get your logic.
