I personally like ryan and thune. However I also like ron paul and think he is mostly on point on most issues.

When compared to romney or huck I will pick ron paul every time. No more damn rinos and faux conservatives like bush and mccain!

Of course I want ryan or thune, but I still would go for ron paul any day of the week if it were him vs maobama and the communists.

To me communism and marxism are a far greater threat than ron paul.

From a July, 2009 Rasmussen Poll:

2012 Match-ups: Obama, Romney Tied at 45%; Obama 48%, Palin 42%

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections2/election_2012/2012_match_ups_obama_romney_tied_at_45_obama_48_palin_42

All of this is just something to sell a few papers.

That’s a reasonable answer. I don’t think there was one of those in 2008. He might do that in 2012 if there is a kinda liberty candidate. I prefer Ron Paul. I think he would actually cut government. I want less government and more freedom. I think Ron Paul is our best bet for that. But I also like Palin. I’m not convinced that cutting government is the number 1 priority with her. I don’t really care about the electability argument. That’s kinda what this poll is saying.

I don’t beleieve that. Many people crave a more libertarian message.

ron paul would get the youth vote over obama big time.

I copied and pasted. If there is an error, the error is in the original - that’s how CBS News has it.

"Paul Ryan.'

I am kind of partial to Mike Pence, but like Ryan as well.

Fantasy. Paul getting the nod would be the death of the Republican party as well as 4 more years of Øbama.

Regardless of your feelings for ron paul, he is infinitely better than maobama, romeny, or hucklebee.

Don't tell that to the PaulHaters. I have come across posts saying if RP won the GOP nomination, they would vote for Obama "just for spite"!

That doesn't surprise me, however. The Bible does say that good will be looked upon as evil in the Latter Days.

Ron Paul’s base wants less goverment.

Every Republican has grown government. Even our best President, Reagan, ended up growing government, even though he was against big government. I want smaller government. Ron Paul’s base wants smaller government. And to me and them, that’s the only priority. Not really a list of 5 things, but just one simple thing. Shrink government. Less government. Limited government. Constitutional government. No matter how you say it, that’s what Ron Paul will fight to do. I don’t understand how that’s crazy. I guess you kinda like smaller government, but it’s not that important to you. Well smaller government is the only thing to me. And Ron Paul is the only one with a proven track record of smaller government.

Accurate. Rasmussen polls are good polls. We like them here usually.

>>He will be destroyed in the election. Ron Paul has this characteristic of changeling, you never know when his kook side is going to pop out. One of these and done.<<

Remember that MASH episode with Harry Morgan before he was Col. Potter (his character was Major General Steele)? It went:

Maj. Gen. Bartford Hamilton Steele: Just tell us what happened at the chopper pad. But First a number.
Warrent Officer Martin ‘Marty’ Williams: [pause, and looks at Hawkeye and Henry] Sir?
Maj. Gen. Bartford Hamilton Steele: A musical number. Why it’s in your blood boy!
[singing and dancing]
Maj. Gen. Bartford Hamilton Steele: When the sun goes down, and the darkies go to town, Hey hey what do you say.

That is Ron Paul.

IIRC, isn’t Rep. Pence a little wishy washy on illegals?

Otherwise he’s very good, and again, geographically, he’s good. The GOP needs a mid-western candidate in order to win in 2012.

I’d say that if Ron Paul got the Republican nomination, he’d win, especially if the economy stays bad. That’s what this Rasmussen poll pretty much says. And we like Rasmussen polls.

I am not arguing that I think that Ron Paul will win the Republican nomination. I want him to, but it is not the likely outcome.

I want smaller government, so I want Ron Paul to be President.

This is sure to generate discussion.

Is this the first time since his election that Zero has failed to win a scientific poll against a named opponent by more than the statistical margin of error?

Not what the poll says.

I’m a little tired of being told that independents are actually all moderate, and that conservative views, small government views, are far-right, and that we have to move to the “center” to get “moderate” “independent” votes. It’s just not true, and it’s how we get a government that won’t stop growing.

Obama is as Liberal as they come. Only 20% of the American people are Liberal. But Obama won. 40% of the American people are Conservative. Republicans should run the most Conservative candidate every time. The candidate with the proven track record of smaller government. Right now, that candidate is Ron Paul.
