IIRC, isn’t Rep. Pence a little wishy washy on illegals?

Otherwise he’s very good, and again, geographically, he’s good. The GOP needs a mid-western candidate in order to win in 2012.

That appears to be his one weakness. He is one of the few GOP leaders who stood up to out of control spending when it was being promoted by the GOP itself. He led the revolt from the Republican Study Committee against the Bush spending spree and got taken to the woodshed more than once by the GOP leadership. In addition to being rock solid on fiscal issues, is is solid on social issues and is a pretty good communicator given his background in radio. He should be able to mobilize the various sections within the conservative movement including the religious right. The ability to lead a united conservative movement is a major factor for me in deciding who to back.
