A Rasmussen Reports poll pitting libertarian-leaning Republican Rep. Ron Paul against President Obama for the 2012 presidential election finds the two men within one point of each other among likely voters.

This was a real, honest to goodness, official Rasmussen poll showing Paul and Obama tied.
Not a internet poll.
I’m hearing 2016.
Yes FRiends. He’s conservative, well spoken, articulate and hasn’t been in DC for 20+ years.
He does look a little young (good for him), and he’s a US Rep which hasn’t been a breeding ground for presidents (and that’s a good thing in this case).
How about teaming him up with Texas AG Greg Abbott? Ryan/Abbott in 2012. Politically and geographically, it’s a nice fit.
Me likey.
Well, yeah, that’s the real story, but Ron Paul’s supporters really can point to this poll and say that there might be 50 reasons you don’t want to vote for Ron Paul, but “can’t beat Obama” isn’t one of them.
Regardless of your feelings for ron paul, he is infinitely better than maobama, romeny, or hucklebee.
2012 will be a better year for Republicans than 2008 was.
I’m not sure who he and him are in your sentence.
Even if Paul were nominated, millions would prefer to perish with Obama just to show the Paul people how nutty they are.
FIFY.
What nonsense from cBS!
Rasmussen pols are vastly more accurate and more reliable than any “poll” cBS ever published.
Say what you may, if Rasmussen says Ron Paul is within one point of 0bama today, than Ron Paul is indeed within one point of 0bama today, whether one likes it or not.
Actually, I think you’re wrong, but I’m not sure there’s a clearly better explanation. I don’t understand why the media - who honestly does not like Ron Paul - seriously - they like Ron Paul even less than Sarah Palin - is covering this story.
He will be destroyed in the election. Ron Paul has this characteristic of changeling, you never know when his kook side is going to pop out. One of these and done.
No matter what the ‘polls say’ today.
Not going to do the lame stream media picks our candidate again. I bet Rush doesn’t either.
Ron Paul gets the Republican nomination in 2012...Every Democrat’s wet dream.
I wasn’t playing posting cop just wanted to let everyone in on the fun....It’s not locked.
No way. Paul will fall towards the back of that pack. If Paul is even with Obama, then Obama is in big trouble.
About this age thing, we would be arguing about precisely how bad it is. I personally don’t care about the age. I like him. But I know that others won’t vote for him based on his age.
Heck, it could be a plus. Instead of an active, vibrant Obama, who is working 24/7 to destroy America, we’d have a more relaxed President who works slowly deliberately to build consensus around the cuts to be made.
It’s very likely the poll is accurate.
Neither L. Ron nor the the child-like emperor has a snowballs chance in hades of winning in 2012 so indeed they could very well be neck and neck.
Nothing like a push poll to create a controversy.
I would like to see Rand finish out his 1st Senate term, then add on the extra 2 yrs after that. Then 2020!
Rand Paul 2020! The eye doctor has 2020 vision!
Much of it comes down to unemployment, growth, incumbency and terms of incumbency. If the economy is as bad in 2012 as it is now, the Republican would win.
