A Rasmussen Reports poll pitting libertarian-leaning Republican Rep. Ron Paul against President Obama for the 2012 presidential election finds the two men within one point of each other among likely voters.

He’ll be in his 80’s during his first term. That’s not just “not a plus” it’s ridiculous.
You missed all of the fun, even a couple of Zot's on this earlier thread:
SHOCK POLL: 2012 Presidential Election Match-UpBarack Obama, Ron Paul... in yer dreams troll... ZOT!
The point is mostly that Obama is looking really weak in 2012. I happen to like Ron Paul, but people who don’t like Ron Paul can say “wow, Obama is so weak that even a kook like Ron Paul could beat him.” It’s good news whether you like Ron Paul or not.
Agreed. Paul Ryan 2012. And yes, he IS old enough (40).
Love Paul Ryan.
>>What this poll says is that Ron Paul could defeat Obama in November 2012<<
PaulBots are a small number of nutty zealots. Their 3% or so of the GOP pack all polls in the early going.
This is meaningless.
I hate to say it, but I'm afraid you're right....but I'm gonna support him nonetheless!
I look forward to his son, Rand, winning the KY Senate election this year, however. The younger Paul, who is a KY eye doctor IIRC, would be the PERFECT Presidential candidate in the 2020 elections!
Running mates!
That’s not what this poll says.
Ok! I can’t find anything on his father. Details, please?!?
Why does Ron Paul need to drop out sooner?
By election time, any red blooded American dog will be ahead of commie bammie.
He would of beat him in 2008 if he was nominated.
No. They are making another sequel to Dumb and Dumber.
People live longer these days.
Of course they do not like ron paul, and they know he would be crushed if he were to run, so they are happy to promote this good news for ron and those who support ron.
Oh, please. Do you see how the presidency ages people? It’s not like being a senator like Byrd where they wheel you in when they need you.
As in 2008, the election issue will be decided in the Republican primary. Who the GOP nominates in 2012 will determine the election the way they did in 2008. The GOP is the determining factor in 2012 not the Obamanation of Desolation. As in 2008, the election is the GOPs to win or lose. They can put up a winner. But this is a party that seems lost doesnt know who and what they stand for.
I hope we have enough Americans to win our country back.
I looked at that thread, I know that I’m about 8 hours late, but it looked like that thread was locked, and this is a slightly different take on the same news, and this has been treated as a fairly major news story. I honestly don’t know that it’s a huge news story, but it’s being treated as one. Top of the page on Drudge, with a pic of Paul, and all that, so, why not let people continue to analyze the situation.
