Radio host Boyles: Birther Lakin no punk; O’Reilly a liar

Denver talk-radio host Peter Boyles interviewed Lietenant Colonel Terrence Lakin’s spokesperson Margaret Hemenway Tuesday, the second day in a row as the “birther” showdown unfolds in Washington. Boyles has admitted he is fascinated by the story of Greeley native Lakin, a decorated 18-year Army medic who refuses to deploy for the second time to Afghanistan because he doesn’t fully believe Pres. Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States. Lakin is the latest and highest ranking of a handful of soldiers who have subscribed to the mostly right-wing theory that Obama has hidden or falsified the usual documents that would prove his citizenship and that he has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars “lawyering up” to protect their secrecy. Boyles, at the very least a semi-believer in the conspiracy himself, clearly admires the man the media is now calling “Colonel Birther.”

“Lakin is risking everything… this guy, he’s hardly a punk, he’s done his [tours of duty] in the past and now he’s willing to call [the president] out on it. He throws it all away. He loses all his benefits and retirement pay and goes to prison for hard labor. It’s not a punk thing by any stretch.”

According to reports, the Army is considering charging Lakin with a host of crimes, including “missing movement,” for not appearing in Fort Campbell Monday as ordered to deploy overseas, and conduct unbecoming an officer. It is highly likely, given the precedent established in related trials, that Lakin will be stripped of his rank and hauled off to the military’s Leavenworth high security prison in Kansas, where he could be sentenced to hard labor for years.

Some see Lakin not as hero or martyr but as a tragic victim of the poisoned partisan

What sticks in my gut are the so-called “conservatives” who have ignored Obama’s eligibility from the beginning. SHAME ON ALL OF THEM!

When tyranny comes Rush, Beck, OReilly, Coulter, Medved, Malkin, Levin, Boortz, and the rest will sell their talents to the fascist oligarchy and will lick the boots crushing our necks.

Some things are deal breakers. Obama’s eligibility is one of them. For many of their viewers and listeners these Clear Channel and Fox guys and gals have **permanently** wrecked their brand name for being honest, fair, or balanced.

Also...The so-called conservative yappers are damned stupid. If by some amazing miracle some are patirots ( doubtful), they fail to realize that whether or not they keep silent about Obama now DOES NOT MATTER!!!

What the hell is wrong with you? I want evidence brought in this case, and if need be taken to the Supreme Court. Nobody else has done it.

Pardon me for believing that Obama happens to be eligible for the Presidency, Republicans lost in '08 because they ran a piss-poor candidate on the back of an unpopular administration and if conservatives wish to win future elections, they need to address these issues and not chase the ghosts of "long form" birth certificates.

This birther nonsense is bad for conservatism and it's going to go nowhere. Lakin threw away his career for nothing.

And...There may be hundreds ( or thousands) of military who are endangered by Obama’s rules of engagement who are quietly cheering Larkin’s actions.

That officer who will be taking Larkin’s place may be very **honored** to do so if, in the end, fewer lives of soldiers are lost and the chances of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil would be reduced.

If Larkin prevails many many many American lives may be saved. And....That includes lives here in the U.S. that might be lost because a quisling and usurper is setting domestic terrorist policies that make us all less safe.

By the way....Maybe the military already has predetermined how this will unfold and it possibly may not be in Obama’s favor.

It took Obama many many many months to send the troops requested. He has set rules of engagement that endanger our troops. We have already had soldiers killed on their base and in recruitment centers. A plane full to the brim with civilians was nearly blown out of the sky.

That's just ridiculous. Obama's eligibility will not be a factor whatsoever in Lakin's court martial and anyone who thinks a court martial is going to undo a presidential election needs to quit drinking the birther kool-aid. Don't believe me? Wait and see. It'll happen quickly.

The Constitution has a requirement that for a man to be President of these United States of America, he has to be a natural born citizen. Any man who was elected or nominated to office, and has taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution is derelict in that duty if they do not demand that Obama produce proof that he is eligible. Inherent in the requirement in the Constitution is a mandate that those responsible, enforce that requirement. None of these men are doing so, including the men on the Courts, even the Supreme Court. Judge R. Barclay Surrick in Philadelphia had the clearest chance to do so, but he didn’t have the courage.

This man who is standing up for what the Constitution says has more guts than all your elected officials, the Supreme Court justices, and the other men who pretend to be statesmen in the shadow of Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, etc. Somehow, I know from what the founding fathers did accomplish, they would not stand by and let this man be strung out alone if they were here today. Now it may be that Obama can produce proof that he is natural born and elligible to be President, but in not doing so, he is the one who is 100% responsible for whatever this man and others who would stand up for our form of government suffer. And if he can, and hasn’t, he is one dispicable human being. There is nobody else who has run for this office that hasn’t produced all of their documents.

And the one thing that keeps sticking in my mind is that all the Democrats and the media keep giving him cover. That, more than anything else, will be guiding my votes in the future. Terrence Lakin is, in my mind, a real man. He is willing to face his actions. The one who is responsible for making him go through this is a spoiled little whiny brat who is not. I can find no clearer way to say it than that. He could solve this issue in a heart beat. Those sitting in judgement of this man, rather than prosecuting him, should be getting out of their chairs and standing shoulder to shoulder with him, demanding that Obama and the Democrats conform to the Constitution.

Boy, I can’t wait to vote in November. It is only one vote, but I know I will be on the right side.

Why is it so difficult to find someone who both believes Obama is eligible and believes that such eligibility can easily be established in a court-martial as part of the prosecution? Instead, the people who believe that Obama is eligible claim that it is not relevant to whether or not orders from the Commander-in-Chief are lawful?

If it ever happens that an ineligible person attempts to act as President, just exactly what are our military officers supposed to do?

I recall that the Speaker of the House succeeds to the Presidency if both the President and Vice-President are unable to serve. But I am not aware that the post of Speaker of the House carries the same eligibility requirements as the Presidency.

If a Speaker of the House is sworn into the Presidency but does not meet the eligibility requirements of the Constitution, what should the officers of our military do with regard to the orders from such a person?

You can believe whatever you like, but between you and the person you are casting stones at, only one of you has given up something tangible because of his beliefs.

And if you want to go on the record with the idea that the U.S. Constitution isn’t worth defending as it relates to the validity of a man like Obama getting a free ride on this issue, then so be it.

There are valid reasons to be concerned over Obama’s loyalty to the United States. We see that playing out every single day. I think it’s just plain crazy not to want to get a full airing on the facts of his birth.

Something is not right with this guy. IMO, he was not born here. He doesn’t have loyalty to the U.S. He is intent on destroying our ability to lead in this world. He expresses the idea that the U.S. is to blame for the world’s ills, and he is intent on fixing that.

Why anyone would waste their time and energy trying to put someone down who wants to get to the bottom of this, is beyond me.

It could be that all the military players involved here, know **exactly** where Larkin’s case is going. The fix may already be in and it might not be in Obama’s favor.

I'll be curious to see if Obama allows Larkin’s case move toward court martial.

I often watch O'Reilly. I don't always agree with what he says.

My point is this: If O'Reilly has investigated Obama's long form birth certificate as he claims, then surely O'Reilly can tell us the name of Obama's birth doctor and the name of Obama's birth hospital, because the only way O'Reilly can know those facts is if he has personally seen Obama's long form birth certificate in person.

And if O'Reilly, has seen Obama's Hawaii long form birth certificate, then Obama, as I see it, has given up his claim to legal and medical privacy, and Obama should now be forced by the courts to let everyone examine Obama's long form birth certificate.

Myself, I don't believe that O'Reilly has seen Obama's long form birth certificate, and so he has NO idea of the name of the doctor who signed the long form and/or the name of the birth hospital.

So, while I like O'Reilly, I can't but say this: When it comes to his claim that he has "investigated" this Obama birth certificate issue, I say that O'Reilly's investigation is either terribly incomplete, never took place, or it is a fraud claim.

Again, until O'Reilly can tell us the name of Obama's birth hospital doctor and the name of Obama's birth hospital, I say that there is no way O'Reilly can claim that he has thoroughly investigated the Obama Hawaii long form birth certificate issue.

Maybe, and maybe not. If this is going to be settled, it has to get into court. A Court Martial will do fine.

I want to know who the convening authority for any Court Martial would be. It could be the Medical Center Brigade CO, Colonel Gordon R. Roberts or could be the Commander of Walter Reed, Colonel Norvell V. Coots.

Be interesting to see who they might call for the Court.

Colonel Coots and Colonel Roberts, maybe especially Roberts, might have their own problems with the eligibility of the The One. Or maybe not. Col. Coots is a medical officer, unlike Col. Roberts.

I have always had Fox on in the evening, but lately, I am finding myself wanting to flip channels when o’reilly comes on. Is it my imagination, or has he become more of an apologist for the administration.

Yes, one will take his place. Some other flight surgeon who just did a 15-18 month tour will be told to pack his bags. Or some other flight surgeon who's anxiously waiting to get back to his family will be told he's gotta stick around a while. And whoever is "voluntold" to step up and fill Lakin's spot is a true patriot.

They won't pull someone just back. They might move someone's deployment time up. How much less "at home" time that might mean is hard to say, since medical and other support types deploy on a different rotation basis than line units. But yes, the person selected will be true patriot, but that doesn't prevent Lt. Col. Lakin from being one as well. Remember we are talking about a guy with one tour already and a Bronze Star to show for it.

A Court Martial would not "undo the election", in effect they would say "ignore it", as the winner was not eligible. The Civil side would have to pick up after that.

Of course what they would actually say is "Not Guilty" as charged.
