It’s election day in congressional District 19

Voters in congressional District 19 today will choose a replacement for U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, the Democrat who stepped down in January to head a Middle East think tank.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The district has more than twice as many Democrats as Republicans and voted 65 percent for Barack Obama in 2008. That makes Ted Deutch, a state Senator from Boca Raton, the heavy favorite. But Republican Ed Lynch hopes to ride voter dislike for the new Democratic health care law to an upset victory. And independent candidate Jim McCormick hopes enough voters are fed up with two-party politics to propel him into office.

The winner serves the last 8-1/2 months of Wexler’s term and will be up for reelection to a full two-year term in the fall.

“I would like to know why the RNC did not have national ads on this race. They could have exceeded Scott Brown’s impact on public opinion. They would have had an uphill fight, but they may have changed some of the “Jews for Hitler” mindset.”

We knocked 12.3% off of Wexler’s last race, and still lost by 11%, or 7.5% if you got every third party vote. How much more could we have upended this huge RAT stronghold. Like I mentioned above would $100,000 have turned 1 more percent. Would $500,000 have turned 2 more percent.

Would $10,000,000 have done it or just gotten us within 5 to 8%?

At some point, you also have to be strategic - and that includes with dollars and ad buys - which are not infinitely available.

I think FL conservatives are doing a pretty DARN good job when it comes to Rubio - we could take a lesson from their playbook!

“I, too, agree with you, sir, “onward to Hawaii and Pennsylvania” and to victory in both contests. I have begged both Rush Limbaugh & Sean Hannity to get deeply involved with these two house elections. We can win them if we all work and strive together. God Bless America!!!”

Yes sir! Let’s redouble our efforts there!! Listen, NY 23 was a minor note in the New Jersey and VA revolutions, and was bookended by the Massachusetts Miracle. This is just a minor setback.

Onward!

LOL! True. I give Ed Lynch a lot of credit. He got very close for that district. It was a hapless job but he tried hard.

You speak truth. There is amazing danger ahead for this country. Even now Obama craps on the First Ammendment and Freedom of the Press. Reports showing that many are begining to recognize the sense of Dictatoral rule the emits from this White House...

I was amazed that he got as close as he did. Both my parents and I live in hopeless districts (I have Carolyn Maloney in mine).

I have to admire men or women who get out in try in these tough areas. It is a miracle he got so close. These people would vote for Yassser Arafat if he had a D after his.

TX has not produced Republican primary upsets in 2010 for conservative candidates. It has been business as usual, with the Cornyn kind of candidates mostly prevailing. An exception is a House seat in Lubbock, where 86-year-old liberal Republican Delwin L. Jones went down to a 57-43 loss.

Is Ed Lynch more than willing to, seriously, give it another go for November 2? He did well for the area, despite not actually winning.

Yes, if you go onto his Facebook page, he has stated that he'll try again in November.
He has run before against Wexler and lost.
He actually got more percentage points this time.
But He'll need a whole lote more -face-time with all the Palm Beach and Broward COunty residents.

I am going to ask him to continue to speak at all the local Tea-Aprty events and local grassroots conservative citizens groups like DCworksforUs.

I will actually ask to be included as a member of his team during this SUmmer to help get more printed media out to the voters and help to undermine Deutch if possible.
