An Army flight surgeon apparently is sticking to his vow not to deploy until he is satisfied that President Barack Obama is a "natural born" citizen.
Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin did not report for duty at Fort Campbell, Ky. as ordered today, and a spokesman for the post said it's not likely he will.
Lakin's failure to report essentially dares the Army to bring charges against him for being an unauthorized absence.
Margaret Hemenway, a spokeswoman for a group called the Patriotic American Foundation, which is supporting the 18-year officer, said the Army should not expect Lakin to report unless he sees an original birth certificate showing that Obama was born in Hawaii.
The Army has not said yet what it intends to do about Lakin. Calls to his unit -- Headquarters Company, Medical Brigade, Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington -- were not returned by post time.
To this point the Army has ducked taking serious action against the decorated flight surgeon, claiming his public statements and threat to disobey orders did not constitute any punishable offense. On March 31 -- the day after the video was released -- he was given a letter of counseling. In the letter, his commander at Walter Reed warned him against not reporting for duty as ordered.
The orders, Lakin was told, "are presumed to be valid and lawful orders issued by competent military authority." The letter warned Lakin that not showing up at Campbell could result in his facing AWOL charges, as well as missing movement, willfully disobeying a lawful order and showing contempt toward officials. A conviction on any of the charges could mean a dishonorable discharge, imprisonment and loss of all pay and allowances.

Would this be considered “AWOL?”
Didn’t someone already go through this and they were reassigned ?
Seems he wasn’t bluffing. Will military.com issue a retraction of their headline that asserted the Army had called his bluff? I suspect holding one’s breath waiting for the retraction would lead to anoxia.
He’ll either be quietly discharged or crucified.I guess it will depend on Hussein’s mood when the case is put to him.
Bet they just discharge him.
I’ll say this for the man, he seems to have the courage of his convictions.
At the very minimum he's violated the following articles: AWOL (Article 86), missing movement (Article 87) and failure to obey order or regulation (Article 92). They can probably get him on contempt towards official (Article 88), conduct unbecoming (Article 133) and general articles (Article 134). This might just be the tip of the iceberg. Perusing the Punitive Articles of the UCMJ, there appear to be a few more he might get nailed on.
This guy has a pair.
Hell either be quietly discharged or crucified.I guess it will depend on Husseins mood when the case is put to him.
I think he’s past the 18 year point, so it’s not all that easy to just discharge him. It will be interesting to see what DOD and the Army will do.
Yup, he called the recent Military.com headline - what was the real bluff .

LTC Lakin does have a set...unlike MSFoxNews, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Andrew Breitbart, and the other Obama Enablers...
Challenging the Army to court-martial him....you know if the Army does not....Obama definitely was not born in Hawaii...and born outside the US to a foreign parent.
And, cool that this is being done by someone at my old Army unit at WRAMC
God Bless Lt. Col. Lakin! A real American Patriot!
Army Chief of Staff General George Casey is NOT in Lakin's chain of command.
It certainly might not get to Hussein, particularly if a quiet separation is the plan. But would Hussein (or his handlers) really want a court martial here?
I think the "bluff" was whether or not the Army would rescind his orders as they did in the past with that other guy.
It matters little at this point. The Army ordered him to be somewhere at a certain time today and he's not there. He's in a heap of trouble.
Next he’ll really do something bad, like show up at a tea party rally.
