No NS, Obama is in Lakin’s chain of command, General George Casey is not.
Which would immediately be tossed due to the ever popular lack of standing. In order to establish standing Lakin would have to show a causal relationship between the injury he suffered and an action on the part of Obama. Since the order to deploy came well below even the Secretary of Defense level it'll be impossible for him to claim that it was Obama's action that caused his court martial.
He first took an oath to defend the Constitution, personally I am glad Lt. Col. Laken considers that his first priority. I read on the blogs somewhere Obummer wanted to change that oath to allegiance to the President...nothing further came of that. It is obvious the Lt. Col. considers Obama a usurper, and he is “defending the Constitution from all enemies”.
And apparently will be refusing to follow legal ones as well. Hence the court martial.
Oh yes he would. There is a wider latitude in a civil court. Lakin would have standing for wrongful dismissal.
Nonsense. As the uniformed commander of the Army any chain of command would go through Casey long before it got to Obama.
No, he won't.
Yes,that certainly could be his attitude. But,IMO,it's just as possible that he'd just want this to go away.*Quietly* go away.
IMO,the course of action will be decided at the highest levels and it will be decided with November '10,November '12 and "legacy" in mind.
I’ve been following this topic for the last year and half. You are an Obama suck-up.
At every turn you dismissed, slimmed, and mocked those who had the audacity (you pal’s favorite word) to ask that the SIMPLEST clause of the Constitution be followed.
Swarmy, smirky, lameass.
The time has come to support a true patriot.
Then why did they have to wait almost ten months to decide how to respond to McChrystal’s request for more troops? bam has the final say, that’s why.
HE is responsible for the new troop deployments. NOT the military.
Bite me.
You don’t seem to understand NS. General Casey has no command. His duty is an advisory role to the president.
Not sure I could find something that small.
No, that was a Reservist. His activation orders were merely recinded, on the theory that it was a voluntary activation and by filing the suit he was "un-volunteering". Oh, and his security clearance was pulled, which cost him his civilian job.
“Not sure I could find something that small.”
Just look at your d..K and think a whole lot bigger.
It’s going to be grand when the Obama administration implodes or when his faux presidential legacy will be known totally as the Lair-In-Cheat. I’ll be giving you ping.
Zing!
As I understand it, he can't be separated without a Court Martial. The President can order it, and the officer can accept that. But the officer is still entitled to a Court Martial if he wants one. I'm sure he does in this case.
Who gives orders to the CO?
Your LPO didn’t decide to deploy your unit. Your CO didn’t decide to deploy your unit. The Secretary of the Navy didn’t decide to deploy your unit.
Or any unit.
The President sets the policy (to deploy the military into combat) and the rest of the trickle down orders just make that happen.
I
No, you don't seem to understand. General Casey is the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army. He is the highest ranking military officer of the Army and, with the Vice Chief of Staff, form the uniformed side of Army leadership. Lakin's chain-of-command would most certainly flow through him at some point.
