"Health Law Bans New Doctor-Owned Hospitals, Blocks Expansion of Existing Ones"
SNIPPET: "The rules fall under Title VI, Section 6001 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The provision is titled Physician Ownership and Other Transparency Limitations on Medicare Exceptions to the Prohibition on Certain Physician Referral for Hospitals.
More than 60 doctor-owned hospitals across the country that were in the development stage will be canceled, said Molly Sandvig, executive director of Physician Hospitals of America (PHA).
Thats a lot of access to communities that will be denied, Sandvig told CNSNews.com. The existing hospitals are greatly affected. They cant grow. They cant add beds. They cant add rooms. Basically, it stifles their ability to change and meet market needs. This is really an unfortunate thing as well, because we are talking about some of the best hospitals in the country.
The organization says physician-owned hospitals have higher patient satisfaction, greater control over medical decisions for patients and doctor, better quality care and lower costs. Further, physician-owned hospitals have an average 4-1 patient-to-nurse ratio, compared to the national average of 8-1 for general hospitals.
Further, these 260 doctor-owned hospitals in 38 states provide 55,000 jobs, $2.4 billion in payroll and pay $509 million in federal taxes, according to the PHA."

Or a capitalist doctor...
Sheesh....all some folks can see are the ACORNS. LOL.
True. Actually, in areas in which there are competing hospitals it is the competition for physician-determined admissions that provides incentive to hospitals to provide better services. When that competition is eliminated by government defined admission policy, the quality of services will decrease.

Obama said it’s time for change and here it is.
“When that competition is eliminated by government defined admission policy, the quality of services will decrease.”
Obama claims his policies are “evidence-based.” The evidence suggests that competition among hospitals in a local is welfare-increasing up to as many as 4 facilities. That is, compared to having a monopoly provider, adding 1, 2, or 3 competitors will reduce costs and/or increase quality compared to the levels that otherwise would exist under a monopoly. My guess is that the same would be true for primary and secondary schools.
This is why the slamming of private health insurance companies was so hypocritical by the Dems. Progressives foam at the mouth at “obscene” insurance industry profits (3, 4, 5% is obscene???), yet completely ignored hospitals who have grown more and more concentrated over time.
The list ,ping
How much more of this hopey change stuff can we take?
Yes, I actually read a lot of the bill and the various versions, so was surprised (well, maybe not too surprised) that this communist section was still in this legislation.
“Communist thuggery at its very worst.”
Yep.
Its called fascism folks...doctor owned hospitals are locally owned..AND community responsive...
