The MS-13 gang may have issued a hit on the NYPD, police sources said Saturday.
The tip came last week from a cab driver in Brooklyn, whose hack friend overheard a gang member talk about a murder contract on police from the driver's back seat, sources said.
The cabbie told cops the thug spoke about the group killing an officer in every command, sources said.
"We're investigating the report based on an overheard conversation," said NYPD spokesman Sgt. Kevin Hayes. "At this time, there's nothing to indicate there's a city-wide threat."
But sources said Gang Unit cops are pushing informants to gather more intel on the threat, and are taking the tip seriously.
"We're careful around these guys anyway," a source said.

We don’t talk too much about MS-13 in New York City (they are but one of hundreds of gangs), but over on Lawn Guyland, folks seem OBSESSED with them, if you look at the local boards.
I’d figure they’d hit the Suffolk County cops before NYPD.

I agree. Often times the police — NYPD or otherwise — have their hands tied by the politicians who establish the liberal policies, and they are doing their best within the parameters set for them.

MS-13, the morons that tattoo their faces. Kill a couple cops and they will see a crackdown/asswhooping like never seen before. What is MS-13 going to do, sandpaper their heads.......this isn't Mexico...yet.
I agree, with both of you. Same situation everywhere for Law Enforcement, however the large departments in liberal cities seem to put up with the worst of it.
They may be talking about the liberals in NYC, like the liberals everywhere - re-elect the same liberal politicians and think things will change. I have no sympathy for people that support the policies and politicians that tie the hands of the cops, then complain that crime is sky-rocketing.

When US/Mexican border region law enforcement were warned in late March by the El Paso Sector Border Intelligence Center that “the Barrio Azteca gang in El Paso” may be plotting to kill El Paso law enforcement officers in retaliation for a recent crackdown on gang members, the threat did not come as a surprise to officials monitoring Mexican cartel movements to begin killing any US law enforcement who get in their way.
More than 200 officers from 20 separate law enforcement agencies targeted Barrio Azteca in a series of raids in which officials were looking for information about gang-tied murders in Juárez and El Paso. Three Americans connected to the US Consulate in Juarez were gunned down in what appeared to be a cartel-related hit.
Some US counter-cartel officials told HSToday.us they believe if the killings were the result of an ordered hit, it could have been meant as a warning, “or signal,” that the cartels (Bario Azteca members serve as “street soldiers” moving cartel drugs north of the border) will begin killing US officials in retaliation for the US’s increasingly successful efforts in preventing larger quantities of narcotics from being smuggled across the border.
