Coburn bashes Fox, praises Pelosi
The American Thinker ^ | April 09, 2010 | Greg Halvorson

Perhaps it's the political zeitgeist these days, but statements made by Tom Coburn (R-OK) at a recent townhall are puzzling. Coburn, speaking before constituents, one of whom expressed concern over jail should she reject ObamaCare, turned into a mouthpiece of fawning progressivism.

Coburn is conservative. According to his web-site:

Dr. Coburn's priorities in the Senate include reducing wasteful spending, protecting your liberty, balancing the budget, improving health care access and affordability, protecting the sanctity of all human life - including the unborn - and representing traditional Oklahoma values.

Seems clear. Not so clear, however, are his defense of Pelosi and his stab at Fox News. Said Coburn of the speaker:

"She's a nice lady." (Boos and hisses) "Come on, she's nice. How many of you have met her? ..."

I believe you hit the nail on the head: It is all just a game and we are mere pawns. They know exactly what they are doing in Washington and, come November, we will throw out the party carrying us 100 miles an hour toward socialism and replace them with the party who will slow it down to 55 mph. We will still get there but not as fast. They know exactly what they are doing...

I thought this was satire!

I must say this changes my opinion of Mr. Coburn.

I’m sure Ms. Nancy will be out in the next few days talking about what a wonderful man Tom is! /s

Potomac Fever.

Few escape the ravages of that affliction, after they have been in Washington a while.

Sad.

Look at the insanity it causes during each legislative session.

Very true. There's something about going to Washington. How is the viewpoint of the Washington Post any different than that of the New York Times?

At least Coburn is better than Richard Lugar, who has made a 30 year career in the Senate trying to be nice to Democrats.

Coburn has been going Liberal RINO for a few years....remember he supported John Hussein McCain early in the 2008 campaign season...when many conservative candidates were still in the race.

He needs to be removed next election....and Pelosi is not a nice lady. Mice ladies do not push socialism down our throats

Coburn is a great conservative, probably the greatest conservative senator since ol’ Jesse.

But in this case, he should have just stuck to the issues —
and not gone off on a wild tangent about nice Pelois and biased Fox. There are plenty of ways to bash Pelosocialism without getting personal.

Coburn’s problem is common: Washington Syndrome, similar to Stockholm Syndrome, where victims begin to sympathize with their captors. They become so concerned with their own survival that they lose touch with reality, & can no longer tell right from wrong.

He does his best Patty Hearst imitation when he praises his enemies while bashing FNC.

Time for Coburn to go!

Coburn shows his true colors.

However, I think this is indicative of how concerned the politic is. Coburn may have jsut been trying (in a stupid way) to dial the anger back. Saying SanfranNan is “nice” was foolish though.

Supposedly conservative Coburn is a “republican.” Palin says that she loves McCain’s plan for illegals.

The more I watch them, the less I trust them. All of them.

Give the reins of power back to these people, and it will be Groundhog Day....all over again.

What this nation needs is a way for a George Washington, a rejector of political parties, an independent, to rise to the top and be elected.

According to the Senator, constituents should balance Fox with CNN, because it's unhealthy to get the news from one source. He, himself, reads two newspapers, the New York Times and the Washington Post, because listening to both sides puts things in context

lol....both sides? The NYT and the Wash Post are on the SAME side, you freaking nitwit. That's like saying he watches both Olbermann and Matthews for a balanced perspective.
