Forget throws like a girl. Try "throws worse than an octogenarian" . . .
How weak was Pres. Obamas first pitch at the Nationals game on Opening Day this week? Well, have a look at officially ancient John Stevens throwing out a first pitch, and compare and contrast with PBOs puny effort [after the jump].
MSNBC ran the clip of Stevens throw in the course of a segment on the Supreme Court justices announcement today of his retirement.
View videos of Stevens and Obama's pitches here.

LOL: 80-something John Paul Stevens throws better than Obama! Ping to Today show list.
Lollipop, Lollipop! O-Bummer LOLLIPOP! -POP-
Hussein threw it as hard and as far as he could, yet it barely covered the 60 feet from the mound to home plate. ....and it was wildly left, not surprisingly. AND it was spastic.
There is something wrong with the link. The Stevens clip doesn’t show up.
In fairness, baseball is not the national past-time of . . . Indonesia ;-)
Works for me, but please try this:
I’ve been as big a critic of George W. Bush as anyone here, but I have to say that in all the times he got on a pitcher’s mound to throw out a first ball I found it remarkable how consistent — and effective — his throwing motion and body mechanics were from one time to the next.
What was even more noticeable (and was pointed out by another blogger in a previous post) Obummer was wearing an opposing team’s cap, the strategy being when he was booed, like he was last time, it could be spun as a response to the cap on his head and not to the contempt with which he is held by many.
Oh, duh! It’s over on the right side.
Thanks.
Obama is just not an American culturally. He chose to identify with the ghetto culture of inner-city Chicago, and with union organizers (if not workers) for political purposes, much as he chose to be a White Six fan. It’s all phony. There is nothing in his life experience that fits within even the most generous (diverse) parameters of American culture.
Is it just me, or does George W. Bush bear a striking resemblance to legendary Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry?
Well, he was a very highly ranked college pitcher, who apparently had pro offers.
beat me to it, although i was gonna mention that bambam would prolly beat the old man at sawing off infidel heads...
“it could be spun as a response to the cap on his head and not to the contempt with which he is held by many.”
What I haven’t seen mentioned is the contempt Obama himself displayed by that act. Has any previous president flagrantly dissed the team for whom he was tossing out the first pitch? I’d love to hear Miss Manners weigh in on this one. If you’re invited, as a guest, to conduct some sort of social ceremony, what kind of classless person rubs their host’s nose in the fact they’d rather be watching/rooting for someone else?
Of course, this was simply a microcosm of the contempt he and fellow Dems displayed to 60% of the American public by enacting a health reform plan they found odious. But that doesn’t excuse the behavior or make it any less rude.
Don’t dis’ W. W was one of the two best Presidents of my rather lengthy lifetime. And he did honor us all when he threw out the first pitch.
I said on the day that it happened that Sarah Palin most certainly could have thrown the pitch better than Obama. And she’s more of an authority on nuclear affairs than Obama too!
I think bammie is used to catching, not pitching.
Funny. My initial reaction to that photo was that it must be an old shot of GHWB.
Of course it's no secret that Cubs fans, even those who are 172 years old like Stevens, are infinitely more knowledgeable than White Sox fans.
