So, are there any one-legged-Asian-lesbian-Muslim judges available for this spot?
To: stevie_d_64
I guess I'm an eternal optimist, but I think the timing could be good on this one. It's also helpful that he's the libbiest of the bunch. Of course the Kenyan will want to replace him with an out-and-out communist.
That may not play in Peoria THIS time.

My first reaction, too. I wonder why he didn't just jump straight to ebonics to keep with the tenor of the times:
WASHINGTON Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, the court's oldest member and leader of its liberal bloc, he be retiring.

Obama may get one more before all said and done...
Ruth Bader Ginsberg is rumored to be very sick. It wouldn't surprise me if she retires from the bench.

No doubt the maoist has been pressuring this justice to retire.
By waiting till the summer there is little chance that a replacement will be confirmed before the elections.
That said, this gives us a chance to delineate the difference between the far left and the true constitutionalists.

Not surprising. Now Bowrama will be able to replace the top liberal with a even more left leaning progressive!

Well, it will be a change from a Liberal, to an America-hating Marxist who embraces fascism.Maybe he can find a Muslim one - shouldn't sharia have a voice on the Supreme Court? Since America's one of the largest Muslim countries and all.

The Obama administration is sure to nominate someone with a strong ACLU / public employee union legal background. Or perhaps a wise, muslim, homosexual.

Qualifications are not required...Obama will choose someone of non-white origin, street credibility, and pro-abortion.
To: stevie_d_64
He’s got to retire before Obama loses Congress in November.

You think Republicans should filibuster Obama’s appointment till the next congress ?? It seems tempting given the timing.

There’s probably too much time until next January for it to be stalled that long....that’s 9 months.

Well, at least it’s a liberal.
Easy prediction: The nominee will be a minority female, so that they can play the race and misogyny card and keep the “Tea Parties are racist” narrative going.

I agree... They should also use all procedural maneuvers (sp?) to slow this down so that it clogs all of the other socialists programs Nobama wants to press while he still has his majorities. So let this add to the agenda (cap and tax, submission to the Russians on nukes treaty, financial regulatory reform, etc. etc.) so that nothing gets done.
