Disappointment as US high school students snub 'lesbian-friendly prom'
Senior prom fell far short of the rite of passage Constance McMillen was hoping for when she began a legal battle to challenge a ban on same-sex dates.

The 18-year-old lesbian student said that she was one of only seven students to show up at a private party chaperoned by school officials. She said the rest of her peers went to another private event where she wasn't invited.
"It was not the prom I imagined," she said. "It really hurts my feelings. These are still people who I've gone through school with, even teachers who loved me before this all started. I've never been a bad student and I don't feel like I deserve to be put through this."
Her case drew a national spotlight after she and the American Civil Liberties Union challenged an Itawamba County School District rule that banned same-sex prom dates and a requirement that only male students wear tuxedos. Proms are parties held for students, generally in their senior year in high school.
The ACLU sent a demand letter to Superintendent Teresa McNeece in February, saying the rules against same-sex prom dates and girls wearing tuxedos violated Miss McMillen's constitutional rights. The district responded by withdrawing its sponsorship and cancelling the April 2 event.
In an apparent compromise, school district officials said parents would organise a private event with school chaperones that Miss McMillen could attend.

If those parents had administered a few well-deserved swats some busybody would have tried to have them hauled off to the hoosegow. I know this from personal experience.

Possibly true, and maybe their repayment was waiting at home. But you’d think it would at least teach the girl not to hit her father in the head? I was the only one in eyeshot, too.
It’s always gratifying to me when my kids see behavior like that going on and say someone needs a smack! LOL they know they couldn’t have gotten away with that!

That is gratifying. When another kid is acting up at a restaurant, my 5yo daughter will usually just look at me, giggle, and make a slashing motion across her neck (an inside joke my mother taught her which means there’d be hell to pay). Haha.
My wife and I took the kids to Fuddruckers a few weeks ago. My wife took the 5yo to the bathroom ... and my 2yo started crying (a bit loudly) because mom left. I looked at him, growled under my breath “no sir!” and he stopped on a dime, wide-eyed, and didn’t make another sound.
The lady at the table next to me said ... “that was actually kind-of impressive.” I said “I’m kinda scary when I’m 5-times your size.” She responded ... “Well — I shut up.”

Reminds me of the ‘free market’ principles Michele and people aren’t buying your depravity.
See how we’ve been jerked around to believe that there are so many of these people out there? And we have been led to believe that there is huge support for this perversion; even from ‘the straight’ community. Nah, this is very reflective (imo) of the reality of this whole movement. People are fed up. Kind of like finding out that there was only a little old man behind the current in the Land of Oz; loud, frightening, and the perception that great power existed; then the current was pulled back.

My BIG DOG BARK can be quite intimidating and sound so exactly like a big dog bark that most folks who don’t know me or aren’t watching start looking for the big dog.
It slows most tantrums down quite instantly. MOST.
However, maybe 5% are soooo distressed that there’s nothing that will halt their tantrum.
I have a Pomeranian sized bark as well but that’s more amusing than intimidating. Sometimes, it’s more appropriate, however.
The Donald Duck talk is similarly more amusing. Sometimes amusing works.
I’m usually compassionate with parents. However, in this case, there was no serious even attempt at discipline. It was all mollifying and catering to a very rebellious and demanding brat. I don’t care to coddle that much at all.
Sometimes, I’m then even brazen enough to mention my PhD in Clinical Psychology.
Particularly about the time they are ready to tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about. LOL.

My mom also made it clear that the neck thing is a joke for the family only ... don’t do that particular motion to your teachers or friends or anything.
